2006 Ford Ranger

Trim: FX4 off road level II
by MY_RANGER on 09-03-2014
THE ULTIMATE RANGER
The ROAD TRIP FROM EDMONTON TO KELOWNA AND BACK TO EDMONTON IN MY RANGER FX4 LEVEL II DESCRIBED ALL THE FACTS THAT MY TRUCK IS THE ULTIMATE RANGER. THE HANDLING WAS AMAZING DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. THE POWER IS MUCH MORE THAN I IMAGINED WITH THE FIVE SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE STEERING WAS SO TIGHT AND RESPONSIVE. UNTIL YOU GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THIS TRUCK THAT IS WHEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE SHARED WITH YOU.

great small truck
Love this truck. Could be better on gas for its size. Good basic vehicle, love that I can still get a vehicle without features I don't need-- manual locks and windows are just fine, and probably will last longer than automatic anyway. Folding rear seats are convenient for short trips but uncomfortable on a long trip. Box size is great, road clearance in snow is a bonus! I love being able to drive over a snow bank to park, I never get stuck. My only issue is that I'm tall and while there is enough head room in the vehicle, it's not possible for me to see the traffic signals when stopped at a red light unless I stoop down. So the windsheild is too low for tall drivers, or the driver's seat could use an option to lower it.

Easy to drive
It was a truck plus manual transmission. Just learned to drive a manual shift and it was so easy in this truck!

Good Truck
My wife is the one who rides this ford ranger she loves it the size it is compact and a good size for her. I find it to be a bit of a gas guzzler. She also loves the design and colour

Will Last You a Lifetime
Vehicles are rarely made to last anymore, but the Ford Ranger was. You buy a Ranger, take care of it, and it will last you your life. The perfect combination of city-comfortable and bush-wacking capable. The Ranger is as capable as any other V6 pickup but with a minimalist approach it saves you gas, allows for better maneuverability within traffic and crowded parking areas, and offers more bang for your buck.

I bought my 2006 3.0L V6 2WD Ext. Cab Sport because I wanted something that could handle provincial parks as well as city construction but wasn't going to cost me on price or gas. It's the jack-of-all-trades vehicle. Smartest vehicle purchase I ever made.

Ranger Anger
Very dependable as was my last ranger a 1990 XLT supercab 4 liter beast. This one is a 3 liter gas guzzler go figure that this one is 16 years newer than my last one and gets worse mileage than my 4 liter ranger did, way to go Ford. My 1990 Rangers interior was ergonomicaly perfect and my 2006 isn't even close, what happened Ford, your designers must have forgoten what they had achieved with the 1990 Ranger. I am dissapointed that the Ranger went out of production as it is the perfect size truck for me and now I have to look at Toyota

2006 Ford Ranger

Trim: FX4 Level 2
by Ken83 on 11-30-2012
Small but mighty
I purchased this truck used and had a few problems right off the bat and thought that I made a bad choice, but after getting the problems fixed through warranty the truck hasn't given me any problems for 2 and a half years since.
I use the truck for mainly a daily driver, but it also gets used for work and play.
For being a small truck it can hold its own when it needs to. I've had it loaded with a little bit of everything, quads, hay, couches, whatever is thrown its way, and it never misses a beat.
The little 4 liter V6 engine also has enough to do the job. It's pulled cars on trailers to trucks out of the mud and even a truck pull sled 283 feet at the Fergus truck show.
With the FX4 Level 2 you get a great daily driver but also some extra features that make it great off road. The level 2 comes with 31" tires that give it that off road look, but also provide some ground clearance over the stock Rangers. It also comes with a Torsen limited slip differential to help get traction off road and Bilstien shocks that help calm the rough terrain.
The level 2 also comes with some great interior upgrades and bigger brakes up front.
With all the abuse I put on this truck, it's still going strong at 180000 km and I would recommend this truck.

Love this truck
This truck has always run smooth for us. we've never had problems with its 4x4 functionality or using it during severe weather. It is however a bit of a gas guzzler, needing refueling frequently (at least, more than some other more environmentally friendly trucks). Nonetheless this truck is one of the best.

very good vehicle
I never had any problems with this car.The best truck of my life. you can fit a 4'x8' sheet in the truck. Only once when the engine was wet could I not start it. Then I applied WD 40 to the distributer & wires and it started like normal. I was very happy with it.

Reliable & Durable
I really enjoyed this truck. I was upset when my lease was up and it was time to move on. Durability and Reliability are the two best descriptive words that come to mind when I think of that vehicle.

Very reliable
I got this truck at 20 km and parked it at 100,000 - it's only parked because I got a new car! My son will be driving this truck starting next year and it will make a great starter vehicle for him - as expected after 100,000 km things are going to start going wrong but you know what this truck never let me down - would definitely buy again
