2013 Ford Explorer

Fair, but buyer beware
I owned this model for almost 4 years, and while it did the duty I required of it, the quality and durability of it is suspect. For one, I had the front bushings replaced 4 times - this vehicle was never taken off-road, but regularly went over speed bumps which seemed to do the damage (even at proper speeds). It was essentially babied, especially after the 2nd replacement. Power was good, but you pay at the pump. Space was tremendous, but you pay at the parking lot. HUGE blind spots on the A-pillars such that I "lost" pedestrians crossing the street legally on several occasions resulting in very near misses. Outward visibility isn't terribly good. Headlights are very poor, especially in the rain where they get completely washed out. Fuse panel is inaccessible with the door of the panel screwed in, needing a Phillips head. It's buried in the foot well below the steering wheel and even once opened the fuses are deeply recessed making essentially useless. The MFT interface update process was a joke, required either a stop at the dealer (at a cost) or mutli-step process to update (one must use a couple of USBs - one for version verification, one for the update). Seats were comfortable but the foot well requires one to sit slightly to the right as the tire well intrudes, a fairly comfortable and planted ride.

Ford Explorer
This vehicle is very very well maintained. It drives like a dream. I used to own a Ford Escape and I thought it was a very good vehicle. I now own this Explorer and am being very honest if you drive an Escape and you drive the Explorer you will never buy an Escape. The ride and the handling of the Explorer is exceptional. A used Explorer is the way to go and with the Canadian dollar being so low I suspect that to buy a 2016 with the options that this one has is in the $60,000 - $65,000 range. With this vehicle you have virtually no costs for the next 4 years or 160,000 km

This is a brand new car at give away price
If you are the type that likes comfort and safety, this is the toy you need. No doubt this is a steal at this price. Words alone can't express all the features and benefits to be derived from this car but I bet you'd always be happy. Smooth ride.

Great SUV
Great SUV, lots of room, reliable, and very comforting. The only real problem is the blind spots are kind of big, but the blind spot mirrors make up for it.

Fully Loaded and Set to Go
I was given the Explorer as a rental I ended keeping for a month. It had every feature I could think of. Smooth drive and not bad for power. Was okay on gas as well.

A Comfortable Ride with Nice Features
The New 2013 Ford Explorer is a nice all around vehicle. Fuel Economy after the first 2000 km is about 11.9L/100km so not bad for a vehicle this size. The interior is well deisgned and the MyFordTouch controls are easy to learn and use. Got the secodn row bucket seats and center console and the kids love the storage space and controls they have access to. The 12V home plug is great for them to charge laptop/DS while on long trips. So far I am happy with everything, only knock is I am tall and wish the tailgate went up a little higher.

Great Family Vehicle
Solid fuel economy and beautiful interior. Most importantly for a family vehicle it has an excellent safety record. I am a fan of the latest connectivity systems i.e. nav with Sirius Travel Link and Sync. Bluetooth enabled voice control is a bit of a novelty in vehicles now but it is one of key features I use most. Overall the turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 and standard all wheel drive make the explorer feel quite powerful and responsive. As you would imagine it can tow just about anything and is perfect for those cottage weekend for those with a boat. I would definitely recommend the explorer.

Little on the big side but great on the gas
I thought this truck would be bad on the gas consumption but its better than my 2010 Honda CR-V. Its a big big truck, very comfortable ride, lots of space and great on the gas so far....
