Ford Focus 2002Change

Had my car a couple of years, never let me down. Great on gas and good on insurance, the only thing I didn't like is it wasn't as powerful as I would have hoped.

I have never had a problem with this car. It goes and goes and goes. Nothing ever seems to die in it. Very good on gas. My only problem with it is the noisy cab, but it was nothing I could not live with. Good Car!! I definitely recommend.

I've always saved on gas with this car...never broke down...girls didn't hate it so it was all around good

I bought my Ford Focus Wagon from a friend who always replaces her cars before they hit 100,000kms. I always say it's the best gift anyone ever gave me! In the ten years I have worked this car to the max, using it more like a pick-up truck, it has been the cheapest, most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It has had it's front & rear shocks and sway bars replaced, but other than the usual maintenance, that has been the entire replacement of parts it has ever needed. It is great on gas, even though it's an automatic, and it carries a family of five comfortably. The lift-up back hatch is perfect for sheltering your cooking when you are camping, too! Just pitch your tent so the hatch door opens over your tourist tent door canopy. The roof racks store skis, poles or camping gear with ease; the excess weight didn't increase the gas use very much. There is hardly any rust although I only had it undercoated once; it's a very solid car for it's age! I'm planning on buying another just like it for the next ten years!

This car served me well for 11 years. With the iPod connection and the subwoofer, I always enjoyed the time I spent in it. The manual transmission makes it a lot more zippy, compared to the automatic versions of this car. Sure it's got a few dings and scratches, but it'll make a great first car for someone.

I had a 2008 ford focus was good on gas, but this 2002 ford focus is way better comes with a 5spd manual transmission love it. The gas milage on this car is excellent and would not trade or sell this car, paid cheap for it and look forward to bringing back to new life, it doesn't need that much work done but i am deffo gonna keep this car. Ford makes good reliable cars

I had this type of car used it for my small family, travelled in it from ontario to british columbia very reliable vehicle very good on gas replacement parts where cheap didnt have problems with it was very comfortable to british columbia lots of trunk space

The ford focus is a great compact car with awesome Value. Great on gas, cheap on repairs, and fun to drive. Very Stylish, parts are easy to come by, and very easy to do alot of repairs yourself if you have a bit of knowledge

Some would actually call this car ancient and, to be completely honest, so would I. However, this car stills holds a great sentimental value for me. Not to mention - no one would buy it now anyway. So, I guess I'm keeping it.

fantastic great space for family and drives like a queen, smooth as a baby's bottom on the road. I have two young kids and they love the space they get in the back seats. Great overall vehicle for a family

This is an extremely old car. It has a great sentimental value for me, however I know that it is time to move on. The car is breaking down and it is time that I get a new care that is more fuel-efficient.

It's been a great ten years with this car, however it really is time to move on. The car is breaking down: electric circuits have become disconnected (though they were repaired in time for winter - which cost a pretty penny), I have experienced headlights failure and more. This car holds a great sentimental value to me and I will not sell it - who would buy such an old car? - but I am definitely going to get a new, more fuel-efficient car.

Overall a good little car. They tend to wear out wheel bearings more then other cars I have owned, and using Ford original bearings can save you money, as aftermarket bearings don't seem to last very long. There are a lot of cheap bearings made for this car and you don't always know what you are getting.

The biggest issue with this car is engines, there are 2 available engines, the Zetec which has a great reputation as a long lasting engine. But you also have the Split Port, which is not so great. These Split Port engines have a history of dropping valve seats, which allows the valve to drop into the cylinder, basically destroying the engine. It is definitely buyer be ware, the good news is, each engine has its name right on top of the valve cover, so telling them apart should be easy.

Overall it is a decent car, but be careful about which engine you are getting. The zetec has been known to very reliable, the Split port has a reputation of dropping valve seats which allows the valve to drop into the piston resulting in massive damage. Both are being sold on the used market for the same price, and rarely will a seller inform you that there is a difference. It is buyer beware.

These focus do tend to go through wheel bearings, and aftermarket bearings seem to have little life expectancy, Ford original bearings last a few years, but I have gotten as little as 8 months use out of aftermarkets, only to find out that the 1 year warranty I thought I was supposed to have was actually only 2 months. Somethings are worth returning to the dealership to get, Focus bearings are definitely one of those things.

Overall the body design is a love it or hate it style, they tend to be a good little car, but the resale price for the 2002 models has been on the high side. What I paid 4 1/2 years ago is still the selling price on the same model and year now. Either I got a really good deal or people are pricing them way too high.

Dependable and reliable car with valuable insentives that are one of a kind! Inexpensive parts and labor.

Earlier models have transmission issues we caught our early but it can cause it to explode. Also having over heating issues, which no one can solve, and with front wheel drive tires will wear fast. Overall it still is the best car we have owned.

We bought this car used and have nothing but good things to say. We were lucky that the previous owner took good care of it, as we have as well. As long as it is cared for it is super reliable. Also, doesn't look dated, stays modern looking as the years pass where other cars of the same vintage do not.

I Find it's a great car, I have a standard so I get good pickup when I put the pedal down and find it handles great, have never had a problem with it and its never left me stranded anywhere!

my car was bought used. I works good but it has a small gas tank so i have to fuek up often seeing how my drive is 60 km one way 6 days a week. It is not very spacous but it does get me from point a to point B. If you are a student it would be a good first time car. It was originally red but it was painted yellow as the company that bought the car needed it to be yellow to match the rest of there vehicles. I love the fact that the back can fit two strollers no problem plus all my weekly shopping bags. I does not seat 3 in the back very well but if you have to put three in the back you can. It has not needed to much work to keep it maintained and safe for everyday driving with my baby in the back seat. I does not have bad blindspots so i feel very safe driving around. I would keep it longer if i have to. It was very cheap to purchase wich was what i was looking for. The best of luck to anyone looking to buy a Focus Wagon.

10 years and still running had to put a little work into it but in over all the car has been a good one

Great car, Ive has a few problems but nothing major, Very fuel efficient, I like the way the raido fades out and in, in between changing radio stations

Have never had any problems with this car, bought it used about 3 years ago. Only problem Ive ever had is an odd rattling that doesn't seem to effect anything anyways.

The 02 Focus is a car that if I had paid a lot of money for (or as a new vehicle) I'd be pretty ashamed of myself. I'll give the designers credit for excellent visibility and ergonomic design but how about "focusing" on the mechanicals. (I long for the Escort days when Ford's partnership with Mazda produced some pretty amazing compacts. How about constant vibration, brakes that don't last and electrical gremlins (Particularily those annoying door locks) that apparently kept secret warranties in business at Ford for this generation's entire life span. If you are that focused on Ford, consider a later generation (post 2007).

We bought this car at 99k, now at 109k we have replaced more than we could ever imagine in this beater (granted, we knew we would need to replace a few things). Replaced both back window motors, replaced the alternator, replaced two separate pieces related to the radiator (both of them exploded while driving, shooting radiator fluid everywhere) not to mention, 3 of these things broke while driving and left us stranded. We fixed a leaky transmission, the valve gasket cover was leaking oil. It dies while idling- it also continues to accelerate even when NOT pushing on the gas pedal, thus eating up our brakes. Don't buy it
