Ford Focus 2001Change

I got this car 4 years ago and when I got it, everything needed to be changed because the previous owner did not take care of it. So there was about $2500 in parts that went into it including breaks, ball joints, wheel bearings, had the ac fixed (dryer was dead), new tires all around. One common issue with this car is the rear suspension, the springs in the back sag and you get 2 degrees of negative camber which results in inner tire wear. There is a bulletin about this from ford, you have to replace springs and rear trailing arms to fix it. The car also exhibits some weird idle even with cleaning, the idle sensor seems to be at fault. I had a zetec in my ford escort but never had any of these problems. The engine and transmission also runway louder than in the escort even though there are no exhaust leaks. It is also far worse on gas, gets about 7.5-8l/100km on hwy, 9.5l/100km in the city. I'm hoping the engine will last though since its a zetec and I have 1/2 a million kms on it in my other car.

This is a great little ride. Our family has had it for nearly 16 years! the car runs smoothly and predictably. We've had little issues with it in the past. Not to mention, the fuel economy is amazing. Only issue is, given it is a hatchback, low storage.

Amazing , takes less then forty to fill ad last a lomg time , like routh ly 300 km or more . Never had any prblems or overly expescive repair costs yet , knock on wood

For the most part this is a great little car,when I first got it my pistons went and had to get new engine,,ontop of regular maintance,its great on gas about $30 to fill,only thing I found with my car and as well as others I see the body seems to rust out on all them

Over the yrs it's been really reliable. Economical on fuel and very comfortable to drive. Lots of space inside with good size trunk.

We've had this car for years and it still look and works okay with little maintenance. It's not very fuel efficient though as it's an older car before all the fuel economy trend started. The suspension is not very good and it's not too comfy for long trip but does just fine for city driving.

Once something gets fixed, then something else breaks. After everything is fixed then the breaking down starts all over again.

I bought one a week or so ago, it has been an excellent family car, it is very comfortable ride and is really good on gas.

i went to go get gas and turned my engine off. when i turned the care back on what did i know? i dropped the #2 piston valve seat TERRIBLE ENGINE in focus SE its a spi cvh motor the worst ford ever designed.

I have been driving this car for about one year but we have had this car since 2001 and it has been so good to us! The seats are comfortable, heated and easy to clean because of the leather. I really like the wagon aspect because the trunk is a very decent size to fit pretty much anything and my family goes on a lot of road trips! It is not a gas guzzler so I don't have to worry about the gas level at all. I just find it very reliable whenever I need it and I wish they were still making this model so I could get the same one as my next vehicle!

It behaves as if it rotates on a central axis. Its touchy and alays ready to react. Most average or novice drivers dislike this car. however it is truelly an unsung hero of rally performance and engineering. For the more advanced driver I promise a fun experience.

This Ford Focus has done so well for us - considering the age of the car! Great on gas, handles well in the winter - which really was surprising! Not a lot of room on the inside - but it is a compact car so what can you expect. Would buy another one for sure - the gas money you save is well worth it!

Not a single mechanical break-down, regular oil changes, no fuss, simple commuter, cheap to operate (ex: tires)

This was one of my first car, has a student i didnt have much money, but i was lucky to find one. Its a quite a good starter i must say. If you are ready to give up a bit on style, youll see this car can be very usefull. Since it was a station, it helped me out alot when i was moving out. Very usefull also for sports, you have a lot of space. Might not be fast has a rocket, but the engine is good and reliable. My father, who is 60, always buys station ford, whatever the model. So its a family story i could say. Cars for us are not a show off competition, its only a matter of if its serve us well. Room, good engine, good car.

My experience with this car has not been the best. But, at the same time it keeps me getting from Point A to B. The tumberler has gone in the steering column and therefore had to drill out the ignition (I cannot afford to get this fixed). This is a big problem for this car (2001-2003). The electric fan has bottom out of the car, and will now overheat and now the car won't stop beeping as if you left the lights on. The best thing is however, it is like a K-Car. You can beat the crap out of it and it keeps on going. Nothing you do will make this car quit.

The interior is very spacious with room for four adults.
The ride is very quiet regardless of road conditions.
There are two engines to choose from, each providing plenty of power and great fuel economy. There is an am/fm stereo with cd changer and four speakers with good sound quality.

is a good car to begin when you ,are a teen, when you got the autorout, you put the overdrive it's perfect. for the price the ford focus 2001 is very good

lots of work to take care of it good on gas millage is good ...

its a good car unless something goes wrong

We love how much this car saves us on gas - but wish it had a bit more interior room. Taller people struggle to sit in the back seat - and driver and passenger really don't have much room between them. On the up side - we save a TON of money on gas!
