Super Reliable and Affordable
2.2L ECO Engine is one of the best engines GM ever made and these cars are terrific second cars and last well over 200,000 kilometers.

Immaculate inside and out
This would be a great car for a first-time owner. This car is full of pep and reliable and goes a long way on a tank of gas. Has been kept in an underground parking lot for three years and looks like new. All the paperwork is available. A really good deal.

Reliable car for starting out or adding second car to the family. Gets great fuel milage. Car handles nicely. The seats are comfortable driving around town but get uncomfortable on long drives.

A car that won't let you down.
There have been no major issues with this car, just minor up keep and repairs. It has been running strong and mine is at 225000 km and is still running great.

Bang for my Buck
Have been driving my '05 Sunfire since it was almost new and it was a great bargain car. Spent just over $10k for it and have done only maintenance work on it since. It has been a reliable and comfortable car and with a low price tag, I have been driving car payment-free for a long time. Lots of features for not a lot of money. Only complaint is the gas mileage - for a small car, it doesn't get great mileage.

Have to LOVE Pontiac
My Sunfire is the beat 4 cyl vehicle I have owned and we have had a few. Comfortable for driving around town or going out of town to see the family. Sporty yet still a family car. Inside is stylish and all controls are easy to see and easy to use. With the folding down rear seats you can fit an 8ft 2x4 rt up the middle, little tight on the floor stick, but manageable. The only expenses for this gr8 little car has been regular oil/filter and a new set of radial & Winter tires. This is the vehicle my wife drives daily and she loves it. Not sure what they replaced this with but I do know that the Pontiac brand is gone. Too bad, the Pontiac brand was the most sporty of all Gm vehicles. Hate to see it go.

This car is very reliable & especially driving on snow covered lanes in town or in the country
This is the type of car which I have driven for years without any bad experience. I commend North American cars and especially General Motors fabrication. These cars are very comfortable and with the best motors which run smoothely and do not need constant revision.

2005 Pontiac Sunfire

Great for the money.
Let's be honest, you see one of these pretty much everywhere - there's probably 30 sunfires in the school that I go to. It's a pretty comfortable car, the seats are adjustable two ways and the steering wheel can be raised and lowered. The car performs fairly well - I can get up to speed on the highway really easily, however, even when comparing it to my dad's Grand Prix the acceleration isn't quite as quick. However, it handles easily and brakes well. This thing's really good and gas. It's a compact car and it's got a small engine - self-explanatory.

It's all grey on the inside. I don't really care about the interior design so it's kind of average.

The lines on the car aren't very smooth, so it doesn't look great. It's not as bad as a Cube or an Aztek though - just looks like an average car.

In the 4 years I've owned it, I've replaced the brake pads once, one of the sway bars once, and the windshield wiper motors once. The fan only has one blower option (apparently the resistor in the circuit failing is a common problem) but that's not a big deal - on or off works for me. All in all that's not a lot of repairs for an 08-12 ownership on an 05 car.

Excellent small car
This car has been very dependable, an excellent value. Access to the rear seats is very easy for a 2-door. The folding rear seat allows for carrying longer items than you would expect to fit in a small car. The K&N air intakes make this model stand out from the average Sunfire, it has a very sporty look, and lots of power.

2005 Pontiac Sunfire

Trim: SLX 4DR Sedan
by Melri on 10-11-2012
I bought it for the Firebird-like hood...
Bought my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire SLX 4dr sedan brand new from a dealership. I had first leased a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire and decided to buy another one once my lease was up. I've always liked its sporty look and its deep metallic orange-red exterior colour. I like the styling much better than its fraternal twin, the Chev Cavalier. It's roomy inside. The seats are comfortable. The trunk is roomy enough to hold suitcases or my musical instruments and small amplifiers. Surprisingly, my Sunfire has been a very reliable vehicle. We maintain it regularly so we have not had any issues with it. It's a good commuter car, good on the highway although I have to floor it to get any real power from it. Okay on gas. I have a spoiler on it which is a little heavy for the trunk so got hit on the head (lightly) a couple of times. I'm still happy with it... seven years after purchase.
