The BMW X3 is the company's compact crossover model, and its best-selling vehicle in Canada for 2019. A third-generation X3 arrived in 2018.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, the M40i trim gets more power: its turbo six-cylinder gains 27 hp and 4 lb-ft of torque for new totals of 382 hp and 369 lb-ft.
BMW offers the X3 in xDrive 30i and xDrive M40i trims. The former uses a turbo four-cylinder engine and the latter the aforementioned turbocharged six-cylinder. Both are standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Outside, the X3 xDrive 30i starts with 19-inch wheels with runflat tires, an alarm system, satin aluminum trim, auto-dimming side mirrors and LED fog lights.
Inside, there's a heated steering wheel, transmission shift paddles, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated/power-adjustable sport seats with driver memory, gloss dark oak wood trim, automatic climate control, satellite radio, connected drive services with the connected package professional, Apple CarPlay, and a black headliner.
Safety kit includes tire pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, active protection and the driving assistant package.
X3 xDrive M40i upgrades to 21-inch wheels, larger M Sport brakes, adaptive M suspension, performance control, variable sport steering, gloss black roof rails, leatherette dash trim, aluminum trim, adaptive LED headlights with automatic high beams, an M leather steering wheel, the M aerodynamics package and high gloss exterior trim.
A premium package bundles common niceties like passive keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting and an integrated garage door opener. An enhanced premium pack adds side sunshades, storage compartments, heated rear seats and a head-up display.
With either of those packages in place, BMW lets you add its driving assistant plus group, which brings more active safety assists and surround-view cameras.
An ultimate package is where you get wireless smartphone charging with extended Bluetooth, gesture control, an upgraded stereo, and adjustable rear seats, among other items.
BMW's fuel consumption estimates for the X3 are 10.0/8.2 L/100 km (city/highway) for the xDrive 30i model, and 11.3/8.7 L/100 km in M40i configuration.
