History/Overview
The quickest version of Audi's midsize crossover coupe is new this year boasting much more power, improved handling, and a bit more flash than the standard Q8. It's not as big as the three-row SQ7, but it's far more stylish. And since it's smaller, it should be quicker, and really, that's the reason for an Audi S-model anyway.
Available Trims
There's just one SQ8 trim offered, coming with most of the high-performance goodies. SQ8 gets all-wheel drive, a 4.0L turbocharged V8, and an eight-speed automatic.
Standard Features
Standard on the SQ8 are S supersport seats offering heat for front and rear occupants. Up front is a diamond stitch pattern and embroidered S badges in the seatbacks. Twin touchscreens, one for infotainment and once for climate control offer haptic touch feedback. Carbon twill trim is also standard. There's a panoramic roof, flat-bottom wheel, rear shades, and four-zone climate control as well as ventilation for the front chairs. Audi's virtual cockpit dash is included along with wireless charging and head-up display.
A Bang & Olufsen audio system comes standard as does Audi connect navigation and Amazon Alexa integration. 21-inch alloys are standard outside as are HD matrix LED headlights. Driver aids including 360-view camera, parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, active cruise, and pre sense front and rear are also standard.
Key Options
The SQ8 is well equipped but still offers some tasty options. The Driver Assistance package adds intersection assistant, active cruise assist, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. Massage seats are on the options list, as are 22-inch wheels.
Fuel Economy
The Audi SQ8's fuel economy estimates are for it to get 15.8 L/100 km city and 11.4 highway.
Competition
Competition for the SQ8 includes the equally quick M50i version of BMW's X6, as well as the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53. Other options include the Range Rover Sport in V8 versions as well as Jaguar's F-Pace crossover.
