Mazda Protege 1999Change

This is a very reliable vehicle in my experience. In the short few years I had this vehicle I only had to do basic work on it like oil and tire changes. I had the stock version and it performed above my expectations.

Very reliable, cheap to maintain, if something needed fixing it was cheap and easy. Great handling and great value.

Sips gas and never lets you down! Great for commuting. This is a great first car for a student. A/C works great, used it to haul my skis and bike all over town.

me and my girlfriend bought this as our first car in 2008 it had 167000 km on it and ive only had to repair the exhaust on it it now has 213000 km on it and it still runs fine

I am a university student that has to drive back and forth from school to home and i would have gotten no where without my car! i love it

I was very pleased with this car, it's reliable and good on fuel economy. It handles well and is comfortable to drive. However, I do find that the brake pads do not last long and tend to warp the rotors if they get hot for extended periods of time. I would buy a Mazda Protege again for an economical ride.

My dad bought my mazda brand new in 1999. He's driven it across canada many times, also from New Brunswick to Ontario. My brother also owned this car worked well for him. My sister owned it. She cant drive standard so once i got it i had to fix it a little but now I own it and it has 315000 km on it give or take and it sitll runs like a beauty. Great on gas. Great little family car. And awesome for travelling. Ive driven it thru the mountains from BC to alberta and back a few times and it did great.

Mazda has a good balance of reliable to cost to own I am impressed with the value of Mazda you get a lot for a little I will buy another down side the interior styling’s are acceptable I have an Acura currently and have driven Toyota’s in the past Mazda is the better choice – thanks

Bought this car for $600 drove it home for almost an hour drive.
No issues it runs great. My 5 speed manual transmission version shifts smooth and offers decent acceleration. Gas mileage is also great with $25 giving me more than a half tank, and it runs far when on empty too.

As my first and used car, this was a mostly reliable and fuel efficient vehicle. Most parts need replacing after over a decade, but perhaps this is expected.

I love my Mazda! its reliable and fuel efficient. haven't spent a lot on repairs and it gets me to work

1.8 5 speed transmission that gets good highway mileage and not to mention steel body not fibreglass so i feel much safer with the family in the car, 300,000km and still driving strong

I love my Mazda protege !!!!! Lots of room and more leg room than a Toyota corolla . This car gets great gas mileage and it has more options and cost less than the other Japanese models . Dependability and reliability are excellent . I have a 5 speed manual 1.8 liter that shifts like a dream I totally recommend them . I do not have any negative things to say about this car .
