S80-Owner Safest car in the world, luxurious with exceptional handling! April 07, 2014 T6 Premier
Overall Score
Power when you need it, tight turning radius, comfort in the passenger compartment, automatic seat and mirror adjustments when you open the car door, and respect on the highway for speed, appearance, and control.Sophisticated night lighting is elegant and cool, activated by punching the yellow button on the key fob. I love the smoothness of the ride, the easy acceleration, and the cache of Volvo. I refused to even look at Japanese, Korean, or overpriced German cars. Ford. Chevy, and GM cars, although I prefer to buy American, didn't stand up to the solidity and Mercedes-like solid feel of the Volvo. For example, we own and love a solid and classic 1965 Mustang Convertible, but the 2007 Mustang was tinny, rough-riding, and uncomfortable in comparison with the Volvo sedan, notwithstanding the cool convertible fold-up automation. Maybe I'm comparing oranges and apples. but the Swedes have it over Ford, or had it, at least in 2004 when our car rolled off the assembly line in Sweden.

On certain vehicles with an automatic stop-start function, in certain stop and go driving situations, the starter motor fuse may become overloaded (blown fuse). This could lead to the inability to restart the engine following an engine shutdown by the start-stop system, increasing the risk of crash causing injury in a traffic situation. Correction: Dealers will replace the starter motor fuse with a higher amperage rated fuse.

On certain vehicles equipped with Keyless Ignition, the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may not perform as intended. When starting the engine, the amber coloured warning light in the driver information module may illuminate and there may be a message displayed such as "Alarm System Service Required" (other messages may be displayed depending on individual vehicle equipment). In addition, one or all of the following may occur: The front windshield wipers may operate continuously while the ignition is ON. The turn signals may not function. The headlight switch may not work. The high beam headlamps may not work. The battery may drain. Correction: Dealers will upgrade the CEM software.

On certain vehicles, when driving, an error in the automatic transmission control system could cause the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Transmission Control Module.

On certain vehicles, the wire harness under the driver and/or passenger seat may not have been properly affixed to the seat frame during vehicle assembly. As such, the harness may get caught by the amplifier (mounted under the seat) when seating position is adjusted. If this occurs, the harness connector may detach from the socket and, as a result, the corresponding airbag may not function as intended, causing the instrument panel SRS warning lamp to illuminate. Failure of a frontal airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, secure the wire harness to the driver and/or passenger seat frame.

On certain vehicles, the power steering reservoir return hose may have been incorrectly routed (pinched or kinked) during vehicle assembly. This could increase pressure in the power steering system, which could cause the return hose to burst. Loss of power steering fluid could cause a loss of steering power assist, which may result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the reservoir return hose and, if necessary, replace and reposition the hose. If the reservoir return hose is routed incorrectly, the steering gear return hose and the power steering fluid reservoir will also be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the engine and transmission software calibration is too sensitive. When the driver brakes during city driving, and/or releases the accelerator pedal, the engine idle speed may drop resulting in a sudden engine stall without any prior warning. Engine stalling could, in conjunction with traffic, road conditions and driver's reactions, increase the risk of a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will update ECM and TCM software.

On certain vehicles, there is a possibility of overheating issues of batteries in the Garmin nüvi® 760 when certain batteries manufactured within a limited date code range are used in certain Garmin nüvi® 760 models with a specific printed circuit board (PCB) design. The interaction of these factors can, in some circumstances, increase the possibility of overheating, which may lead to a fire. Correction: Dealers will direct customers who have an affected unit to the Garmin Web site, which explains how to verify if their units are involved and includes procedures to follow for product exchange.

On certain vehicles, there may be an intermittent fault in the driver's airbag clockspring wiring connector for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). If this condition occurs, the SRS lamp will be permanently lit and the message "AIRBAG SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" will be displayed in the drivers information module. If the condition occurs while driving, and if the driver ignores the warning and an accident occurs where the deployment of the driver's airbag is required, the airbag may not deploy as intended or may not deploy at all. Correction: Fealers will install a metal shim in the airbag clockspring wiring connector.

On certain vehicles, the software within the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may not send a signal to the fuel Pump Electronic Module (PEM). This missing signal to the PEM inhibits the start of the fuel pump. The driver may be able to start the engine in spite of the fuel pump not being activated due to residual pressure in the fuel system. In some cases, the driver may be able to drive the vehicle a short distance at idle. However, the engine will eventually stall. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will upgrade the CEM software.

On certain vehicles, the engine cooling fan may stop working due to a software programming error in the Fan Control Module (FCM). Depending on conditions, the driver may experience reduced air conditioning performance and/or rapid increase in engine coolant temperature. This could result in a loss of cooling system function and engine break down. The driver may not have sufficient time to react to the warning light(s) or the text message in the instrument panel, increasing the risk of a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the Fan Control Module.

On certain vehicles, the diagnostic software in the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may cause a malfunction of the windshield wiper functionality. If this occurs, the windshield wipers may not operate when activated; or in certain cases the windshield wipers may activate when not switched on. Should this occur during a rainy/snowy day, it could increase the risk of a crash, causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install updated CEM software.

Certain vehicles may have been inadvertently assembled with incorrect engine mount bolts. The longer bolts do not provide adequate clamping force to the bracket. In the worst case, the aluminium bracket for the engine mount will break, allowing the engine to contact the sub frame, ultimately resulting in reduced engine torque or stalling. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the engine mount bolts for specific markings and, if required, replace the bracket and bolts.

On certain vehicles, the positive battery cable may wear against the starter solenoid. The resulting chafe damage could develop into an electrical short. This can be noticed in different ways. If the vehicle is parked, smoke may appear from under the hood and/or it may be impossible to start the car. If the short circuit happens during driving, not only will the engine stall, but the electrical power could also be lost, resulting in warning lamps being deactivated. Correction: Dealers will relocate the battery cable.

On certain vehicles, the front lower control arms may not have been manufactured within the agreed specifications and as a result the stud and nut that secure the control arm to the spindle may lose its initial axial tension. In the worst case, this condition could eventually lead to separation between the front control arm and the spindle possibly causing a loss of control and a crash.
