Volvo

1 / 8

Volvo is a Swedish premium brand known for safety, and in Canada it is now almost entirely an SUV brand. The lineup runs from the electric EX30 at CA$49,950 to the three-row XC90, with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric choices, including the new EX60. Volvo Car Canada set an all-time record in 2025 with 14,500 sales, led by the XC60, XC90 and XC40, and sales kept growing in the first half of 2026. The V60 and V90 Cross Country wagons end after 2026, and the U.S.-built EX90 is no longer imported because of Canada's counter-tariffs. The EX30 Core is Volvo's only model that qualifies for the federal EV rebate.

The EX30 for Canada is now built in Ghent, Belgium, after Canada's 100% surtax on China-built EVs took effect in October 2024. At CA$49,950, the EX30 Core has little room under the CA$50,000 cap, so options and dealer fees can make it ineligible. Volvo owners can use Tesla Superchargers with an adapter.

Buying a used Volvo in Canada

Know the names

In 2024, the C40 Recharge became the EC40 and the XC40 Recharge became the EX40, and plug-in models dropped the Recharge name. The S60 and S90 sedans have been discontinued.
