Another year means another slew of small but important changes for the Volkswagen Jetta. After being decontented when the latest generation was introduced, the Jetta is slowly gaining it back. However, this year, many small things are being removed while grouped options packages are being added. Also, the 1.8 TSI four-cylinder engine is now available on Trendline+ models while an automatic transmission is available with the base 2.0L gasoline engine on Trendline models. TDI models get a boost of 10 hp for a little extra get-up-and-go.

The Jetta comes with a choice of three engines: a 2.0L four-cylinder (115 hp, 125 lb-ft), 1.8L turbocharged four-cylinder (170 hp, 184 lb-ft), and a 2.0L four-cylinder turbodiesel (150 hp, 236 lb-ft). The gasoline engines use a five-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic with Tiptronic. The TDI uses a six-speed manual or optional six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) automatic. The 2.0L is the base engine in Trendline and Trendline+ trims. The 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI are available in Trendline+, Comfortline, and Highline trims. Comfortline and Highline trims get the 1.8 TSI as its base engine.

Trendline+ adds LED turn signals integrated into exterior mirrors, body-coloured mirror housings, power adjustable heated exterior mirrors, heated windshield washer nozzles, keyless entry, heated front seats, manual climate control/air conditioning, front adjustable armrest with storage, and front and rear floor mats.

Trendline+ TSI adds 1.8 turbocharged four-cylinder engine, electromechanical power steering, and active grille shutters.

Trendline+ TDI adds 2.0 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, six-speed manual transmission, KESSY Go, electromechanical power steering, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, multifunction trip computer, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, and 8-way adjustable front seats with lumbar.

Comfortline adds (to Trendline+) 1.8 turbocharged four-cylinder engine, front and rear floor mats, 15-inch alloy wheels, power sunroof, anti-theft vehicle alarm, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, 6.5-inch touchscreen audio, 8-way adjustable front seats with lumbar, rear seat pass-through and center armrest, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, and chrome tips for window switches ; removes engine block heater.

Comfortline TDI adds 2.0 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, KESSY Go, six-speed manual transmission, electromechanical power steering, black front grille with chrome applications, front fog lights, panoramic sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, black window surrounds with chrome base, chrome rings around instruments, remote release for trunk, and leather-wrapped shift knob/handbrake lever.

Highline adds (to Comfortline) 1.8 turbocharged four-cylinder engine, electromechanical power steering, black front grille with chrome applications, 17-inch alloy wheels, black window surrounds with chrome base, chrome ring around instruments, multifunction trip computer, KESSY Go, remote release for trunk, 6-way power driver seat, leather-wrapped shift knob/handbrake lever, and leather interior.

Highline TDI adds 2.0 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, six-speed manual transmission, engine block heater, and panoramic sunroof.
