Ford has given its Focus compact a thorough upgrade for model year 2015 with a new look that brings it right in line with the Fusion and Fiesta. All models now receive new front-end sheetmetal and bumpers, plus a hexagonal grille that looks like it was pilfered from the Aston Martin parts bin. Around back, both the sedan and hatchback get redesigned light clusters.
Inside, the Focus also receives a reworked centre console with new HVAC and stereo controls, additional console storage space, plus a new three-spoke steering wheel. The base S model also receives a 60/40 split folding rear seat, while all models receive a standard reverse camera and electronic parking brake. Additional sound deadening, plus tweaks to the steering and rear suspension focus on reducing noise, vibration and harshness.
While the majority of cars sold will feature Ford’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor (160 hp, 146 lb-ft), paired to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual, a motor half its size is also now available. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo (123 hp, 148 lb-ft), first seen in the Fiesta, is also available on the Focus SE Sedan. As with the Fiesta, the triple is paired exclusively to a manual, though the Focus’ gearbox has six speeds. It also comes with an idle-stop system for additional fuel savings.
The ST performance hatchback also makes a return for 2015, too. Its 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo is carried over with 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, and is mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.
Other additions to the Focus line include an available heated steering wheel, blind-spot warning system, and a lane-keeping assist function that will help keep the car in its lane.
Trims as sedan include S, SE, and Titanium; trims for the Hatchback include SE, Titanium, and ST.
In S trim standard features include 15-inch steel wheels, cloth seating, six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat and four-way manually adjustable passenger seat, 60/40 split folding rear seat, manual climate control, air conditioning, air filtration, 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 with auxiliary input and two USB ports, Sync, full-floor center console with storage, power locks, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescopic steering, power front windows with driver one-touch down, black door handles/grille/rocker moldings/mirrors, integrated blind spot mirrors, quad-beam headlights, reverse camera, Easy Fuel Capless fuel filler, airbags (front, front seat side, driver knee, curtain), MyKey owner control feature, and tire pressure monitoring system.
SE trim adds 16-inch aluminum wheels, six-speaker stereo system, power front and rear windows with driver one-touch down, rear 12V power outlet, cruise control, floor console armrest, rear-seat armrest with storage, trip computer, rear heat seating ducts, carpeted floor mats, steering wheel controls for stereo, body-colour door handles, chrome grille trim, body-colour mirrors, and automatic headlights.
Hatchback in SE trim adds removable rear package tray, rear windshield wiper, and rear spoiler.
Equipment Group 201A (SE Plus Package) adds interior ambient lighting with seven different colours, fog lights with chrome bezel, black headlight bezel, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift-knob, LED daytime running lights, piano-black grille finish, touring suspension, 17-inch aluminum wheels, sport cloth seats, perimeter alarm, overhead storage console, rear disc brakes, rear spoiler (sedan).
The SE Plus Black Pack adds to the SE Plus Package with black exterior trim, black fog light bezels, black grille, black rear spoiler and 17-inch black gloss aluminum wheels.
The SE EcoBoost Package (sedan only) adds 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder engine, six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch wheels with black-painted pockets, fog lights, lower front valance and splitter, body-colour rocker panels, rear valance and diffuser, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear disc brakes, and rear spoiler.
The SE Convenience Package adds six-way power cloth seats with manual lumbar support and reverse parking sensors.
The Luxury Package adds six-way power seats upholstered in leather, and power moonroof.
The SE Winter Package adds leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and all-weather floor mats.
The Sony and MyFord Touch Package adds 10-speaker Sony system and MyFordTouch with eight-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, and navigation.
Key standalone features include power sunroof, leather-upholstered seats, reverse sensors, and all-weather floor mats.
Titanium trim builds on SE and adds 17-inch wheels, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, 10-speaker Sony stereo system, Sync, MyFord Touch with eight-inch infotainment screen, proximity key with push-button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, overhead console, illuminated entry, ambient lighting, remote start, eight-way power driver’s seat, leather upholstery, black headlamp surrounds, chrome window moulding, reverse parking sensors, side mirrors with integrated turn signals, LED daytime running lights, perimeter alarm,
