Introduced in 2015, the Porsche Macan is a compact crossover model that slots in below the mid-size Cayenne as the brand’s least-expensive model. Porsche last updated the Macan in 2019.

Available Trims
The Porsche Macan starts with a base model powered by a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and AWD. Macan S gets a 3.0L turbo V6, and GTS and Turbo trims share a 2.9L turbo V6, with the Turbo getting a big power boost.
Standard Features
The Macan’s standard features include 18-inch wheels, a power tailgate, power-adjustable/power-folding/heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, and LED daytime running lights.
Inside, you get three-zone automatic A/C, power-adjustable/heated front seats, front and rear park assist, lane departure warning, an integrated garage door remote, a heated steering wheel, navigation, a 10-speaker stereo, and a 10.9-inch infotainment display.
Macan S adds larger brakes, and GTS gains air suspension, 20-inch wheels, a sport exhaust, and sport seats with Alcantara.
Macan Turbo reverts to a standard steel-spring suspension, but sticks with 20-inch wheels. Additions include Porsche’s surface coated brakes, adaptive headlights, 18-way adaptive front seats, brushed aluminum interior trim, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system.
Key Options
A premium package adds a panoramic roof, heated rear seats, passive keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors, lane change assist, a Bose stereo, and adaptive headlights. A premium plus group brings 14-way front seats with ventilation, and surround-view cameras.
Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, passive keyless, and lane change assist are all offered as single options, as are adaptive headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, insulated glass, and a variety of interior material and exterior appearance upgrades.
Fuel Economy
Porsche’s fuel consumption estimates for the Macan are 12.2/10.2 L/100 km (city/highway) for the base model. Macan S is rated for 13.1/9.6 L/100 km, GTS for 13.5/10.5, and Macan Turbo’s ratings are 13.5/11.2 L/100 km.
Competition
As a performance-oriented crossover, the Macan’s key competition is from the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Audi Q5. You can also cross-shop the Macan against the Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50, Lincoln Corsair, Cadillac XT5, Volvo XC60, and the Lexus NX.
