2023 Porsche Macan

History/Overview

Enthusiasts won’t want to hear this, but the Macan might be the sweet spot of the Porsche lineup with its combination of crossover utility and sport-car-like handling. Porsche introduced the Macan in 2015 and redesigned it into its current second generation in 2019.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

This year, Porsche adds a new T trim level that slots in between the Macan’s base model and the speedier S.

Available Trims

Porsche offers the Macan in base, T, S, and GTS trims. In the first two, power is from a turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine, while S and GTS use a turbo 2.9L V6, with the GTS getting a notable power bump. All Macan configurations get a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and AWD.

Standard Features

The base Macan comes with 19-inch wheels, power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off LED headlights/taillights, front and rear park assist, lane departure warning, and passive keyless entry. Inside, there’s black faux leather upholstery, power/heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, auto-dimming mirrors, three-zone A/C, a 10-speaker stereo, a 10.9-inch touchscreen, lane departure warning, and navigation.

Macan T adds 20-inch wheels, active suspension management, sport chrono package, and launch control.

S trim gains the V6 engine, front-seat memory, and upgraded brakes.

GTS models gain 21-inch wheels, air suspension, surface-coated brakes, and a sport exhaust.

Key Options

Macan stand-alone options include 14- and 18-way adjustable front seats.

A premium package adds lane change assist, heated rear seats, and upgraded headlights. The premium plus group brings a panoramic roof, 14-way seats, and ventilated front seats.

You can also add surround-view cameras, self-steering park assist, lane keep/lane change assist, and adaptive cruise control.

A GTS plus pack brings performance tires, torque vectoring, and exterior styling tweaks.

Fuel Economy

As we write this, Porsche hasn’t published fuel consumption estimates for the 2023 Macan, but they should be similar to last year’s figures of 12.4/9.3 L/100 km (city/highway) for four-cylinder models, 13.8/10.1 L/100 km in S trim, and 13.5/10.7 L/100 km for the GTS.

Competition

The Porsche Macan is one of the strongest performers in the popular compact luxury crossover class, which also includes the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Infiniti QX50, Lincoln Corsair, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Cadillac XT5, and Acura RDX.
