FLAC1609 This is the real deal - Best SUV on the Planet - AWESOME November 23, 2017 S
Overall Score
Nothing compares to this Beast of an SUV with a heart and soul of a Z sports car and the comfort of a Maxima sedan . I have a 2000 TJ Sport Jeep for 10 years - very Nice but a rough rider. This thing arrives in comfort , is fun and fast to drive and when you turn into the rough trail stuff it will go thru anything !! Great reliability - Fuel is good as compared to a Jeep. Hey I rather take a 3 MPG penalty compare to a wimpy expensive , worthless trail rated Honda CRV .

Issue: On certain vehicles, the plastic emblem on the steering wheel airbag cover could detach and become a projectile when the airbag inflates in a crash. Note: This recall is for certain vehicles that had the steering wheel airbag replaced. Safety Risk: Projectiles in the occupant compartment could increase the risk of an injury. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

On certain vehicles, the engine oil cooler stud (onto which the oil filter is mounted) could fail. This could cause an engine oil leak, which could illuminate the instrument panel's engine oil warning lamp. Abnormal noise and rough engine performance may also be noticed and, in the worst case, the engine could fail and stop suddenly while the vehicle is in motion. Engine failure would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the engine oil cooler connector stud.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 - Tire Selection and Rims. The French-language wording displayed on the tire placard does not fully comply with the revised requirements of the Standard, which came into force on September 1, 2009. As the variation in the French text is minor, and all required safety information is displayed on the placard, no corrective recall action is required. This technical non-compliance is deemed to be non-safety related.

On certain vehicles, corrosion may form in the lower steering column joint and limit the movement of the joint. Limited movement of this joint may create excessive load on the lower steering column shaft and, if the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, may lead to cracking of the shaft during low speed manoeuvres that require large steering inputs. In an extreme case, the shaft may break which would result in loss of steering control and could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected column shafts and joints.

On certain vehicles the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM) assembly contains an Engine Control Module (ECM) relay that has a diode for electrical current noise reduction. The ECM relay may allow silicon vapor to form and over time the silicon evaporates from the diode molding which causes silicon oxide to develop on the ECM relay contact due to arcing. In certain instances, this oxidation could cause engine performance issues (hesitation, rough engine idle, slow start/no-start condition), and engine stalling at low engine speeds which may result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) relay.

On certain Garmin nüvi 750 GPS units purchased as a customer or dealer installed accessory at Nissan dealerships, the lithium-ion batteries may contain a defect that may cause them to overheat and cause a fire. Correction: Dealers will direct customers who have an affected unit to the Garmin Web site, which explains how to verify if their units are involved and includes procedures to follow for product exchange.

On certain vehicles, the lower control link assembly collars (forming the inboard attachment point to the chassis) may not have been manufactured correctly. If the collar weld fails, the cylindrical collar can open, which will allow the collar to slip over the mounting bolt and bushing. This may change the wheel camber, which could allow vehicle handling characteristics to deteriorate, possibly resulting in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the lower control link assembly.

On certain four-wheel drive vehicles, the joint portion of the front driveshaft may contain small cracks. These cracks may eventually lead to a failure, resulting in separation of the front driveshaft. If the driveshaft failed while the vehicle was moving, a loud noise would be heard. If the vehicle were in 2WD mode, the driveshaft would come to rest on the frame cross-member, and the vehicle could be operated normally. The driveshaft would not come in contact with brake, steering or fuel system components, therefore the risk of a crash is considered minimal. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace the front driveshaft if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the fasteners securing the steering shaft positioning bracket may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification. If the fasteners are not properly tightened, they may loosen over time and the steering column may begin to rattle. If the condition is not repaired, the fasteners could come out completely. This may result in noticeable steering column movement, which may affect the ability to steer the vehicle, resulting in the possibility of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering column and torque the fasteners to specification.

On certain vehicles, the fasteners securing the passenger front air bag module may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification. If the fasteners were not tightened properly, they may loosen over time and cause a rattling noise. In the event of a crash, the passenger front airbag may not deploy properly, resulting in the risk of personal injury or death. On certain vehicles, the molded fuel tanks are slightly thinner than specification in the area under the fuel sender unit. This may allow the tank floor to deform causing the fuel sender float to interfere with other features inside the tank. This could cause the instrument panel fuel gauge to show a fuel level of approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. An inaccurate fuel gauge can lead to engine stalling while driving, which may increase the risk of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Letters will be sent to owners in two stages. The first letter will advise owners of fuel gauge inaccuracy and recommend maintaining a fuel level above the one half position. The second letter will follow, requesting owners bring their vehicles to a dealer for replacement of the fuel sender unit.

On certain vehicles, the Anti-lock Brake System / Vehicle Dynamic Control (ABS/VDC) actuator was assembled with more than one ball bearing in the valve. This could cause fluid flow to be blocked, resulting in a reduction in brake force in one or both front wheels. This could increase the vehicle's stopping distance and cause a crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the ABS/VDC actuator. Note: All vehicles were captured before retail sale.

On certain vehicles, the fuel pump terminal on the fuel sending unit can develop a crack. When exposed to heavy concentrations of road salt in the winter, if road salt enters the crack, the terminal strip will corrode and eventually could break due to corrosion. This will cause the fuel pump to stop operating and will result in not being able to start the engine or cause the engine to stop running without warning. Correction: Dealer will replace the fuel sender unit.

On certain vehicles, the shift cable locking plate may break, allowing the driver to shift into the Park position but making it very difficult to shift from the Park position. The gear shift lever and the PRNDL indicator may move, but the transmission will not shift from the Park position. If the driver were over time to manipulate the gear shift lever out of Park, the gear indicated on the PRNDL display may differ from the gear actually engaged. Correction: Automatic transmission shift cable lock plate will be replaced.
