Destination and handling added CA$2,095. The 2024 update brought redesigned fascias and a new rear wing, Bilstein DampTronic dampers and, on the NISMO, a front limited-slip differential for the first time. The T-spec added NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, wider front fenders and gold RAYS forged wheels. The US-only Takumi and Skyline editions weren't sold in Canada. The federal luxury tax applied to new 2024 GT-Rs, but used vehicles already registered in Canada are exempt.
The end of the R35 and the next GT-R
- End of production: the last R35 was a Midnight Purple Premium Edition T-spec built in August 2025 for a Japanese customer. About 48,000 R35s were built over 18 years.
- Next GT-R: Nissan's product chief for the Americas said in April 2025 that the next GT-R will be a turbocharged hybrid, not a full EV. In April 2026, CEO Ivan Espinosa said Nissan is "actually working already on the GT-R", with concrete announcements expected by 2028.
- In Canada now: Nissan Canada sold 9 GT-Rs in the first nine months of 2025 and none in the same period of 2026, reflecting the end of stock.

Buying a used GT-R in Canada
The transmission
The GT-R's dual-clutch transaxle is its most important used-buyer check. Enthusiast buyer's guides document failures from hard launches and wear, so ask for service records from a GT-R-certified Nissan dealer and find out whether the car has been tuned or reflashed.
Modified cars
Many GT-Rs for sale have engine and body modifications. A stock, well-documented car is usually the safer buy.
Fuel and warranty
Nissan Canada specified 93-octane fuel for the 2024 GT-R. Even the last cars are at or near the end of their original warranty, so budget for repairs.

Importing a Skyline GT-R
Transport Canada allows a vehicle from a country other than the US or Mexico to be imported once it's 15 years old, based on its month and year of manufacture, not its model year. That makes every R32, R33 and R34 Skyline GT-R eligible. Japanese-market R35s qualify only once they're 15 years old. Check provincial inspection and registration rules before importing.
