For 2012, the Nissan GT-R undergoes several changes, including a power boost from 485 horsepower to 530, and from 434 lb-ft of torque to 448, thanks to such modifications as turbo boost pressure, valve timing and reduced intake air resistance.

The GT-R is available in a single trim line, called the Black Edition. Styling changes include revised front and rear fascias, integrated high-intensity LED running lights, larger-diameter tailpipe finishers, new lower rear fender vents and new wheel designs. The front fascia changes improve aerodynamic performance. Interior changes include new carbon fibre trim, upgraded materials and custom red and black Recaro leather-appointed seats.

The GT-R uses a hand-built 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6, mated to a paddle-shifted six-speed sequential dual-clutch transaxle that is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The transaxle includes hill start assist. Power is transmitted through an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system specifically developed for the GT-R; it is rear-biased and can vary torque split from 0:100 to 50:50 depending on speed, lateral acceleration, steering angles, tire slip, road surface and yaw rate. The body is hybrid construction containing steel, die-cast aluminum and carbon fibre.

Features include 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes, Bilstein DampTronic system with three driver-selectable modes, automatic xenon headlamps, LED brake and taillights, heated mirrors, voice-controlled navigation system, Intelligent Key with pushbutton start, driver-configurable vehicle information screen, Bluetooth connectivity and Streaming Audio, garage door opener, driver’s auto up/down window, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio controls, variable intermittent wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Recaro leather-appointed sport seats, eight-way driver and four-way passenger power adjustment, aluminum pedals, carbon fibre interior trim, Bose CD/DVD/MP3 with 9.3 GB Music Box system, Compact Flash card reader, XM satellite radio, iPod interface, tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-theft system.
