History/Overview
Introduced in 2014, the F-Type sports car is now one of Jaguar’s oldest designs. Since then, it’s been treated to some running changes, like 2018’s addition of a four-cylinder engine and, two years before that, all-wheel drive.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the F-Type undergoes another powertrain change: all versions are now powered by a 5.0L V8 engine, last year’s four- and six-cylinder versions having been dropped.
Available Trims
Jaguar starts the 2022 F-Type lineup with an all-new P450 variant using a 444-hp version of that V8, which comes in base and R-Dynamic configurations and with your choice of coupe or convertible body styles and with rear- or all-wheel drive.
Carried forward from last year is the P575 R, whose 575-hp engine can be had in coupe or convertible models with standard AWD.
All F-Type variants use an eight-speed transmission.
Standard Features
F-Type P450 models come equipped with 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, leather/suede upholstery, a Meridian stereo, a switchable active exhaust, selectable drive modes, and an adaptive suspension.
Inside, there are electric steering column adjustments, an auto-dimming mirror, single-zone A/C, a 10.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a heated steering wheel.
On the safety front, all F-Type models get rain-sensing wipers, collision mitigation, tire pressure monitoring, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, traffic sign recognition, and a driver condition monitor.
P575 R models gain Windsor leather seating, aluminum interior trim, and an active differential with torque vectoring.
Key Options
The F-Type’s sole option is a blind spot assist package that comprises blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Fuel Economy
Jaguar’s fuel consumption estimates for the F-Type start at 14.1/9.7 L/100 km (city/highway) in P450 RWD models, and 15.2/9.8 L/100 km for P450 and P575 R AWD cars.
Competition
Jaguar’s competition for the F-Type includes the Audi A5, BMW 8 Series, the Porsche 911, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe and convertible, upper-level versions of the Porsche Cayman and Boxster, and the Chevrolet Corvette.
