Raymond Conway Never a single regret! December 18, 2020 V6 S
Overall Score
Purchased this car the day I took one for a test drive. It drives as beautifully as it looks. Looks, power, handling, comfort. The whole darn package! The looks and comments I have received are just overwhelming. I've actually seen my car on car-fancier websites. Service costs are a bit on the high side, but I have never had any issues with the car in the 7 years that I have been driving it (yes, I got it in the summer of 2013).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat. Note: The vehicle's lower universal anchorage system (UAS) is not affected by this defect and may still be used to secure a child seat. Safety Risk: A seat belt that is used to secure a child restraint but is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Jaguar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.

Issue: Under certain conditions, the antilock brake system (ABS) and the dynamic stability control (DSC) may be disabled when you start the vehicle. If this happens, the ABS and DSC warning lights will turn on in the instrument cluster, along with message center text to alert the driver. Safety Risk: If the stability control system and antilock braking system are disabled, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Jaguar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the vehicle with the latest software.

Issue: On certain cars fitted with 18-inch rear tires, the tire placard label shows the wrong rear tire size. Canadian regulations require the correct tire size to be listed on the tire placard. If the car is fitted with the incorrect rear tires, it may not handle as designed. Safety Risk: A change in vehicle handling characteristics could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their car to a dealer to install a corrected tire placard label.

Issue: On certain cars, the occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly. This could cause the airbag system not to turn off the airbag when an infant or child is seated in the passenger seat. Note: Cars that had repairs completed under Jaguar recall J047 (Transport Canada recall 2014-515) require a second inspection for this recall. Safety Risk: In a crash, an airbag that deploys in front of an infant or child increases the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their car to a dealer to inspect the passenger seat belt assembly. The seat belt wiring will be repaired as required. Note: Children should not be transported in passenger seat until this recall is completed.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine crankshaft pulley bolt may have been manufactured improperly. This could cause it to crack and fail. If this happens, the crankshaft could break and cause a sudden engine failure. A driver may hear loud noises and see warning lights on the dash immediately before the engine fails. Safety Risk: An engine failure could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loose pulley could separate from the engine and cause damage. If it separates from the vehicle, it could become a hazard for bystanders or other drivers. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized repair facility to have the crankshaft pulley bolt replaced with a new one.

Certain vehicles may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. In the event of a front turn signal indicator lamp Light Emitting Diode (LED) failure or failure of the headlamp module which affects operation of the front turn signal indicator lamps, the required warning needed to comply with the standard is not provided. As a result, drivers may be unaware that they would not be able to clearly signal their intentions to turn and/or change lanes, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will upgrade vehicle software to correct the issue.

Certain vehicles may have been equipped with front seat belt pretensioners that do not meet specifications. This could cause the pretensioners to fail to deploy in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the front seat occupants. Correction: Dealers will check the production date of the front seat belt assemblies (which incorporate the pretensioners) and replace as necessary.

On certain F-TYPE SVR specification vehicles, the rear lower control arm knuckle assembly deformable bolt may have been torqued multiple times during the time of assembly contrary to the specification. This could cause the anti-corrosion coating to come off, exposing bare metal to the environment, resulting in premature fatigue failure causing separation of the joint. A separating control arm knuckle assembly could affect vehicle handling and stability increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace any over torqued deformable bolt.

On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system wiring could cause the system to fail to detect a child or small stature adult seated in the front passenger seating position, instead detecting an unoccupied seat and disabling the passenger airbag. The defect could also cause the system to fail to detect a child car seat installed in the passenger seat and not disable the passenger airbag. This could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash. Correction: Dealers will correct the wiring harness configuration.

On certain vehicles, fasteners securing components of the engine accessory belt drive system may not have been tightened to specification, and could become loose. This could cause a loss of power steering and/or electrical charging system function, and could allow the alternator's positive cable to arc against other components, potentially resulting in a fire. These issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect fasteners to and tighten to specification as necessary.

On certain vehicles, a programming feature which limits vehicle speed in the event of a deployable rear spoiler fault may not function as intended. This could allow the vehicle to be operated at higher speeds without the spoiler being in the deployed position, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.
