Though it has traditionally been one of Mercedes-Benz’s most popular models, the C-Class has more recently been overshadowed by the brand’s small GLA and GLC crossovers. Still, this stylish small sedan has a lot to offer fans of upscale design in a compact package.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, Mercedes has redesigned the C-Class sedan. Coupe and convertible models are carried over, with new designs for those two-doors expected next year, and the C-Class wagon takes a hiatus. Also taking a break are the C-Class’s high-powered AMG C 63 variants.
This year, the C-Class sedan comes solely as the C300 4Matic, powered by a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, a nine-speed transmission, and AWD. The coupe and convertible also start in C 300 form, but can be upgraded to an AMG C 43 configuration powered by a turbo 3.0L V6.
On the outside, the C 300 comes equipped with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated windshield washers, and power-folding side mirrors.
The C 300 cabin comes fitted with heated/power front seats, dual-zone A/C, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, “artico” upholstery, and 11.9-inch infotainment and 12.3-inch gauge displays.
Driver safety assists include blind spot monitoring, vehicle exit warning, rain-sensing wipers, forward collision mitigation, and attention assist.
AMG C 43 coupe and convertible models add the V6 engine, sport suspension, and AMG-tuned transmission/AWD.
A C 300 premium package adds navigation, a power trunk, passive keyless entry, 360-degree cameras, and traffic sign recognition. The premium plus pack brings digital headlights with adaptive high beams, a head-up display, and augmented-reality navigation.
The intelligent drive package adds radar cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind spot/lane keeping/lane change assist, and evasive/active steering assist.
Mercedes lists the C 300 sedan’s fuel consumption estimates at 9.9/7.1 L/100 km (city/highway), while coupe and convertible versions are rated for 10.7/7.5 and 11.0/8.0 L/100 km, respectively. Estimates for the AMG C 43 coupe and convertible are 12.6/8.5 and 12.7/8.7 L/100 km (city/highway), respectively.
