Introduced in the late 1990s, the Porsche Boxster is the brand’s two-seat roadster model, slotting in beneath the 911 to appeal to more budget-oriented sports car buyers. Porsche added the 718 label in 2017.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
New for 2022 are some leather accessories, and customized key fobs colour-matched to the car’s paint.
Porsche offers the Boxster in base, T, S, and GTS trim levels. Base and T use a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine; S gets a 2.5L turbo four-cylinder; and GTS uses a 4.0L six-cylinder engine. All engines come with a six-speed manual transmission that can be upgraded to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The base 718 Boxster comes with 18-inch wheels, two-way heated/power-adjustable/partial leather sport seats, auto on/off Xenon headlights, LED taillights, a garage door remote, two-zone A/C, front and rear parking sensors, six-speaker audio, and Apple CarPlay.
Boxster T models get a shortened shift lever, dual exhausts, Porsche chrono package with sport drive modes, active suspension management, and 20-inch wheels.
The Boxster S gets 19-inch wheels, and sport pedals.
GTS adds torque vectoring, limited-slip differential, lowered suspension, larger brakes, 20-inch wheels, auto-dimming mirrors, and upgraded sport seats with leather/race-tex upholstery and extra electric adjustments.
There’s also a 25 Years trim with special detailing, which is equipped like the GTS.
718 Boxster options include 14- and 18-way power seats, and a premium package of LED headlights, surround-sound audio, passive keyless entry, ventilated seats, lane change assist, and power-folding side mirrors.
You can also add dynamic headlights, a heated steering wheel, and navigation.
Porsche estimates the 718 Boxster’s fuel consumption at at 11.0/8.7 L/100 km (city/highway) in the base model, and 11.2/8.7 L/100 km for the T, both with the dual-clutch transmission; base and T models with the manual transmission are rated at 11.7/8.9 L/100 km with the six-speed stick.
Boxster S ratings are 12.2/9.2 L/100 km (city/highway) with the seven-speed, and 12.5/9.6 L/100 km for the manual.
Finally, GTS models are rated for 12.3/9.8 L/100 km (city/highway) with the seven-speed, and 14.0/10.0 L/100 km with the six-speed manual.
