Ford Bronco: information, price and comparisons

The Ford Bronco is a body-on-frame off-roader with removable doors and roof, sold as a two-door or four-door with four-wheel drive on every version. It returned for 2021 after a 25-year absence and is Ford's answer to the Jeep Wrangler. Ford sold 9,747 Broncos in Canada in 2025, and together with the smaller Bronco Sport the family set a sales record. A seven-speed manual is still offered with the 2.3L engine, the Sasquatch package adds 35-inch tires and locking differentials, and the Raptor tops the range at 418 hp. The 2027 model, revealed in October 2026, replaces the 2.7L V6 with a stronger 3.0L.

Is the Bronco right for you?

  • Buy it if you want serious off-road ability with independent front suspension, which gives a more settled ride than a solid-axle Wrangler.
  • Buy it if you want open-air driving: the doors and roof panels come off.
  • Buy the manual if you want to row your own gears; Ford still offers a seven-speed with a crawler gear.
  • Look elsewhere if you tow more than 3,500 lb; a Ranger or F-150 tows far more.
  • Look elsewhere if fuel economy matters; even the most efficient Bronco uses 12.0 L/100 km combined.

Buying a used Bronco in Canada

Check the hard top

Ford replaced many moulded-in-colour hard tops on 2021 Broncos, and a May 2026 recall (Transport Canada 2026-229) covers 2021 and 2022 hard-top panels that can separate. Inspect the top and ask for the replacement and recall records.

Check the 2.7L and 3.0L engines

A September 2024 recall covered intake valves on 2021 2.7L and 3.0L engines, affecting 11,821 vehicles in Canada across several Ford models. Confirm the work was done on any 2021 V6 Bronco.

Run the VIN for recalls

Recent recalls include engine wiring harnesses that may short on 36,061 2021 to 2026 Broncos (July 2026), seat-height pivot bolts on 2024 to 2026 Broncos and Rangers (April 2026), loose fender flares on 2022 to 2026 Raptors (June 2026), and instrument clusters that may stay blank on 2025 and 2026 models. Check Transport Canada's recall database.

Look for off-road wear

Many Broncos are used as intended. Look underneath for skid plate damage, bent steering or suspension parts, and water or mud in the cabin, and check aftermarket lifts and tires against the vehicle's documentation.
