History/Overview
In 2019, BMW introduced the X7, its first-ever dedicated three-row SUV model. It may have been a first for BMW, but the brand was one of the last luxury automakers to roll out a large utility with three rows of seats.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
There are no changes to the X7 for the 2022 model year.
Available Trims
BMW offers the X7 in xDrive40i, M50i, and Alpina XB7 trim levels. The base configuration uses a 3.0L turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with 48-volt mild hybrid assist, while the two latter models get a 4.4L turbo V8 in different states of tune. An eight-speed transmission and AWD are standard across the line.
Standard Features
The 2022 BMW X7 xDrive40i comes with 21-inch wheels, remote engine start, air suspension, and passive keyless entry, adaptive LED headlights with automatic high beams, LED fog lights, forward collision mitigation, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and rear collision prevention. Inside, there’s a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, ash wood trim, front and rear heated seats, and four-zone automatic A/C.
M50i models add 22-inch wheels, sport exhaust and brake systems, a sport differential, soft-close doors, ventilated massaging front seats, a parking assistant, head-up display, and a drive recorder.
