If you’ve spent any time shopping in the compact luxury crossover segment, you’re likely familiar with the Audi Q5. Catering to more enthusiastic drivers is the SQ5, which was added to the lineup in 2014 as the model’s high-performance option. A second-generation SQ5 arrived in 2018.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Audi SQ5 gets a few minor changes to its lists of standard equipment.
Audi offers the SQ5 in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. Power is from a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Progressiv trim’s exterior wears 21-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, power-folding/auto-dimming side mirrors, a new-for-2022 hands-free tailgate, passive keyless entry, aluminum roof rails, and an adaptive damping suspension.
Inside, there are heated front seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery, three-zone A/C, auto-dimming mirror, panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting. Infotainment is handled through a 10.1-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay, 10-speaker audio, navigation, digital gauges, and Amazon Alexa (new for 2022).
Standard safety features include pre sense city, pre sense rear, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, exit warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Technik trim adds upgraded headlights and taillights, headlight washers, heated rear seats, electric steering wheel adjustments, wireless phone charging (new for 2022), and heated/cooled cupholders. Technik also adds a number of new-for-2022 driver safety assists: adaptive cruise, pre sense front, traffic congestion assist, traffic sign recognition, active lane assist, and hands-on detection.
A comfort package brings ventilated front seats, upgraded leather, and rear side window sun shades. A dynamic pack bundles air suspension and a sport differential.
In Progressiv trim, you can add a driver assistance package of the safety features listed above as included in Technik models.
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the SQ5 are 12.5/9.7 L/100 km (city/highway).
