The 2021 BMW X4 M Competition is a ferocious performer capable of all-season usage, plus it offers plenty of technology and luxury, too. But it’s also compromised in a few key ways that make it a curious way to spend upwards of $100,000.
On a small number of vehicles, the bolts that attach the shock absorbers to the front and rear axles may not be properly tightened. As a result, a shock absorber could detach and cause a sudden loss of vehicle stability. Additionally, this could cause damage to the brake system.
Reduced vehicle stability and damage to the brake system could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
None of the affected vehicles have been sold to retail customers. Porsche will instruct dealers to inspect and tighten the shock absorber bolts on the front and rear axles, before each vehicle is sold.
