Fabulous Luxury, Great Performance
This BMW is a classy sports car that performs and handles like a true thoroughbred, a stunning package of styling and a pure pleasure to drive. The best car I have ever owned... and I have had over 60 cars.
A real head turner. This car is sexy.

Great ride
Very fun, comfortable and safe car to drive. The new performance tires make a huge difference and soon as you put it into sports mode, it picks up very nicely. Low odometer at just over 73,000km means this car is barely broken in. Tons to enjoy.

Fast and sharp looking
This car has it all. Drives well, good on gas, 3 level heated leather seats, lots of room. The interior is easy to maintain, it handles well in snow and has great traction control. I love the way it drive

BMW- worth the few extra dollars
the 300 series are BMWs big sellers and finding a good price on lease return is usually pretty easy so you can get into a lightly used vehicle for the same price a new lesser make.

Maintenance intervals are very long (averaging around 20,000 kms between service) so the high cost of a service (synthetic oil etc.) is offset by the length of time/mileage between each. I have found the total cost of regular service over a given distance to be no more expensive than my Toyota Tundra.

We have had this car for six years and 75,000 km (it is mostly driven in the winter). The car is great fun to drive and has been quite reliable, the few repairs needed (front wheel bearing, brakes and coolant reservoir tank) have been reasonably priced. In an emergency I had it repaired at a garage associated with a low price national chain and they appear to have handled the reapir at a reasonable cost with no problems.

Well made, fun to drive and not significantly more expensive than a run of the mill car - I will definitely buy another used 300 series when this one goes.

Awesome car
The BMW E46 is the fourth generation of the 3 Series compact executive cars produced by BMW, produced from 1998 when it succeeded the BMW E36.

The E46 was released in 1998 to worldwide markets in the sedan body style. In 1999, a coupé and touring body style became available to all markets, and the sedan was released in the United States. A convertible and hatchback body style was released in 2000, the latter only for Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The E46 experienced enormous success in all markets and was widely considered the performance benchmark of its class.[4] The record selling year for the E46 chassis was 2002, when 561,249 vehicles were sold worldwide.[5] The main competitors during the E46's production run were the Alfa Romeo 156, Audi A4, Infiniti G, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Rover 75/MG Z

High Maintenance
Pretty ugly looking compared to the 2006 model. The inside is okay, but definitely wouldn't describe as luxurious, even though I have bought the sports package, and all the extras (fully loaded). I have to admit the sound system is pretty good. Though a lot of the parts are quite cheap, and breakable. The worse part is how much it cost to fix the thing; which is why I didn't bother to fix the mirror that snapped on the inside courtesy of my daughter, because it would have costed $300 dollars. I did get new tires for the car, and also new breaks, but that definitely broke the bank, and I was actually considering trading it in for a new car, but right now my lease is not finished, so I guess I have to stick with it. At this age, I have to make a lot of repairs on it (changing parts, etc.) and the vehicle is pretty pricey to maintain, considering the fuel economy is not so great. The car loses it's value when it gets to this age, and if I were to sell it, it probably wouldn't sell for more than a Camry with similar aspects. I guess it's a sacrifice I have made, but I do like the performance of the car, and it's quite safe. The space inside is alright, but a little squishy in the back. I probably will be getting a new car in a couple of years, but I am probably sticking to BMW. But I definitely won't be buying a new one next time, because it's a lot more expensive.

Great
Good for driving up north in the winter. AWD and low acceleration + a set of good winter tires make for easy driving when the roads are slippery.

Almost forgot... Heated seats when it's -30 in the morning. Priceless! :D

BMW 320i: A Love Affair
I have been privileged to own a BMW 320i (2005) for about 3 years now. When I bought it from the dealership in 2009, they certified it and fixed everything that needed to be fixed (which wasn't much). I have had absolutely no problems with the car, other than the basics. It handles really well, cuts a corner like no one's business, and is quite fuel efficient (more so on the highway than city driving). The sound system is fantastic for a lower-end BMW, the heating/cooling works really well in both cases. Even though it's RWD, the car lets you know when you're skidding, so you can adjust accordingly. Nice feature to have in the winter. Great great car.

Finally, a reliable BMW
I had two 99s, a 318ti and a Z3 Coupe. Each was towed at least once. Both were great fun, but only when they worked. The 2005 325Ci Coupe looked like it was moving standing still, and it actually worked right most of the time. The only major wonky part was the water pump, which failed on the 91-99 E36s too, so if you knew about it, you could change it ahead of time. Mine got great mileage around town and was a solid driver for the almost 3 years I owned it. But, for some reason, it would not sell. Low miles, rust free, and with 8 tires and wheels, safetied and e-tested, and in a popular color and fully loaded, it took 8 months and a 7k price drop to sell it. So be warned if you think you want one and won't keep it long-term: you could end up with something on your hands that nobody wants.

.My first!
There is no car that is as well balanced as this one. It has a cute un-arrogant personality. It is the best three series I've come across and is very reliable. Next year they change the shape and bring out an uglier, less reliable car. It is not until 3 years later with options, I could say it is a better car. But does it have as much bang for the buck?

Great ride but beware of expenditure
I owned this car for a few years and I had very mixed feelings. I'll start with the positives. My 5 speed was very fuel efficient but I wished it had a 6th gear. Only the 3.0L variants came with one. It had lots of different options as it came with some of the winter items like heated seats/headlight washers and premium items like auto headlights/wipers etc. It also came with sport wheels and the sport steering wheel. The ride was quite comfortable and it was a stylish car on the outside.

But there were lots of negatives. Stuff breaks....a lot. Thermostat, expansion tank, brakes (not just the pads) etc. are expensive. Avoid dealerships, find a local BMW specialist and you should be fine.
