History/Overview
The Mazda6 is the Japanese company's mid-size sedan. Mazda introduced this family car in 2004, and refreshed the current third generation in 2018.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2019, the Mazda6 adds the company's G-vectoring control plus feature, which manipulates engine power in turns to improve handling.
Mazda has also shuffled some of the 6's features. GS-L trim gains an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and GT gets power-folding side mirrors and a digital gauge cluster.
Available Trims
Mazda6 comes in GS, GS-L, GT and Signature trim levels. GS and GS-L use a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, a turbocharged version of which is optional in GS-L and standard in GT and signature. Both engines are standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard Features
GS trim gets 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, LED headlights and taillights, automatic headlight leveling, an 8.0-inch infotainment display, six-speaker stereo, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, cloth upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a six-way power driver's seat with lumbar, six-way manual front passenger seat, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shifter, city-speed automatic braking, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.
GS-L adds a sunroof, auto-dimming rearview and driver's side mirrors, automatic high beams, radar cruise control, passive keyless entry, leather seating, a 10-way power driver's seat, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and forward collision warning.
GT trim brings 19-inch wheels, an 11-speaker stereo, satellite radio, navigation, garage-door opener, ventilated front seats, six-way power front passenger seat, digital gauge display and a head-up driver display.
Finally, Signature trim adds trim-specific exterior styling cues, a frameless rearview mirror, LED interior lighting, Nappa leather upholstery, wood- and ultrasuede-trimmed interior panels, piano black interior accents, a lighted glove box, 360-degree exterior camera views and front and rear parking sensors.
Fuel Economy
Mazda's fuel consumption estimates are 9.1/6.7 L/100 km (city/highway) with the base 2.5L engine and 10.0/7.5 with the turbocharged 2.5L.
Competition
The Mazda6 competes with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima.
