Nic4001 Beautiful drive. January 19, 2018 3.2 Quattro S-line
Overall Score
This is, without question, the best car I've ever owned. I love it. And I appresciate the strong 3.2L engine as oppose to the new 2.0L Quattro Pros: It surprisingly economical considering it's 3.2 engine. The torque is awesome. The ride is flawless, corners like a dream. And the acceleration is very satisfying, to say the least. I have the leather seats. I would personally go for the suede option. They are a but slippy when getting out of the vehicle. The trunk is HUGE. no problem of storage at all. My husband is 6'2 and there's more than enough leg room for him to drive. And a surprising amount of headroom too. It's definitely a head turner. I've had people offer to buy it from me as I've parked it. (sometimes that can get bizarre...). Amazing for long journeys and thrilling for short ones! The AWD kicks ass!! I live on a mountain and it has no difficulty in any weather. (I do invest in great winter tyres though...) Cons: Opening the car in the rain. It's not the best design for water escape. Rain spills onto the seat as you open the door. Not ideal. Automatic windows don't seal well in extreme cold conditions. (I live in Quebec, so I'm talking about -20's etc). The back seat is pretty pointless, but who cares. The 2008 model is pre-Bluetooth and iPhone adaptions. If you're thinking about buying one, and it's in good knick, and not seen too many Canadian winters, stop thinking about it and just buy it! You won't regret it.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the tail lamps do not turn on when the daytime running lamps are on. New Canadian regulations require that, if a vehicle has dash backlighting, the tail lamps must automatically switch on when it is dark or must stay on at all times. Safety Risk: Driving without tail lamps in low light conditions could make the vehicle less visible and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the electrical system control unit.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger-front airbag inflator could rupture when the airbag deploys in a crash. If this happens, the airbag may not inflate properly and small pieces of metal could be propelled toward vehicle occupants. Safety Risk: An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury or death. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen and Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag module.

Safety Risk: In a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the driver-front airbag may not inflate properly. This could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. There may be a significant delay before replacement parts are available. The company will send you a second letter once replacement parts are available and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the driver-front airbag inflator. Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the driver-front airbag inflator replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, an underhood fuel connector may not have been securely attached to the fuel supply line and could result in a fuel leak into the engine compartment. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could create the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the fuel line connection and ensure it is securely attached.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. In a situation where the parking lights are switched on and the vehicle is locked, the side marker lights do not illuminate, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle visibility, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.

On certain Audi A3 Quattro, TT Quattro and TT Quattro roadster, the closing force of an internal spring of the fuel tank ventilation valve is not adequate enough to hold the valve closed under extreme conditions. During certain driving manoeuvres, liquid fuel may enter the fuel tank venting system and migrate into the evaporative system, saturating the carbon canister. Should this occur while driving, the vehicle may experience performance issues (i.e. vehicle jerking) and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) in the instrument cluster could illuminate. In certain instances, fuel could leak from the evaporative system leak detection pump filter. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel tank ventilation valve with an improved version.

On certain Audi A3, TT, TT Roadster, and Volkswagen EOS, Golf wagon, GTI, Jetta and Jetta wagon equipped with a Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG), the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the DSG may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped during assembly. As such, the temperature sensor could falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to the Neutral position. A loss of propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the transmission control module with updated software..

On certain vehicles, the C-pillar trim cover clips do not provide adequate retention. In the event of a deployment of the rear pyrotechnic safety belt, the C-pillar trim cover may become detached from the sheet metal due to low retention force of the trim clip. The detached trim cover could pose a risk of personal injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will install an improved clip.

On certain vehicles equipped with a Direct Shift Gearbox, a seam at the clutch was not welded to specification. This could lead to degraded performance of the clutch after an indefinite period of use. The clutch could lose its ability to provide input torque to the transmission without prior warning, which could allow the vehicle to roll. Correction: Dealer will replace the clutch.

Certain vehicles may be susceptible to loss of directional stability in sharp turns or abrupt lane change maneuvers at extremely high speeds due to a steering system that is very responsive to steering input. Correction: Stabilizers will be replaced in front on front wheel drive vehicles and on both front and rear on quattro drive vehicles. A modified control arm will be installed in front together with firmer shock absorbers in front and rear. In addition, a rear spoiler will be installed.
