Issue: On certain vehicles, the brake pedal plate may not be properly welded to the brake pedal arm. As a result, the brake pedal plate could bend, or in some cases, detach. Safety Risk: A brake pedal that bends or breaks could make braking difficult and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the weld between the brake pedal plate and arm. If it is not properly welded, the brake pedal will be replaced.
