For 2012, the Volkswagen Eos undergoes a mild facelift, with new grille, headlights with LED accents, LED taillights, new rear bumper with diffuser, and redesigned instrument panel. The sole transmission choice is an automatic.
The Comfortline adds Bluetooth, media interface and tire pressure monitoring system, while the Highline adds an ignition start-stop button. Bi-xenon headlamps can now be deleted from the Highline, for a $1,000 reduction in price, and from the Sport Package on the Comfortline, which is now $1,200 without them, and $2,200 with them.
The Eos uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder direct-injection engine, with six-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). Its five-piece roof includes a heated rear window, and a panoramic glass sunroof that can be tilted or slid open when the roof is up. The panels separate and store themselves in the trunk in about 25 seconds.
Features on the Comfortline include 17-inch alloy wheels, Climatic climate control, eight-way manually-adjustable heated “leatherette” seats, heated mirrors, anti-theft alarm, keyless entry, auto up/down windows, CD stereo with auxiliary input, media device interface with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, LED taillights, front and rear floor mats, fog lights, heated washer nozzles, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear park distance control, tire pressure monitoring system and wind blocker.
The Highline adds 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather sport seats, auto-dimming mirror, Black Peak trim, compass, garage door opener, engine start/stop button, multifunction trip computer, premium touch-screen six-CD stereo with eight speakers, Sirius satellite radio, ski bag, and sport suspension. The automatic bi-xenon headlamps can be deleted if desired.
