Issue:
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse.
Safety Risk:
A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the SYNC software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the nuts for the ball joints that connect the front upper control arms to the steering knuckles may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the upper control arm could separate from the knuckle. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control.
Note: This is an expansion of recall 24S64 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-620).
Safety Risk:
A loss of steering control could create a risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect for loose and/or missing nut(s). If any loose or missing nuts are found, the dealer will replace the ball joint(s) and steering knuckle(s).
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the child safety lock on the left-rear door may not work properly. As a result, the door could be opened from the inside of the vehicle when the safety lock is in the "ON" position.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-157. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.
Safety Risk:
A child safety lock that doesn't work properly could allow a child to open a rear door while the vehicle is moving and create a risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear door latch(es).
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the mounting flange between the external reservoirs and the rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail. If this happens, the external reservoir(s) could detach from the vehicle.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers.
Safety Risk:
An external reservoir that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
