The X5 is BMW's full-sized utility vehicle, or as BMW likes to call it calls it a ?Sport Activity Vehicle?, and it returns for model year 2013 with minimal updates. The current generation X5 will end its production run this year and an all-new X5 will be launched for the 2014 model year.
The 2013 X5 comes with a choice of four engines. The xDrive35i uses a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder with twin-scroll turbocharger and eight-speed automatic. The xDrive35d uses a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbodiesel with six-speed automatic transmission. The xDrive50i uses a 4.4-litre TwinPower turbocharged V8 with eight-speed automatic. The X5M also uses a 4.4-litre TwinPower turbocharged V8, but with higher output and with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Features on the xDrive35i include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, automatic adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with washers, adaptive brake lights, tire pressure warning system, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer jets, heated mirrors, alarm system with interior motion sensor, self-charging keyless fob, black roof rails, cruise control, heated multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic adjustment, cruise control, split-folding rear seats, power windows, ten-way heated leather seats, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, USB port, iPod connectivity, BMW Assist, Bluetooth connectivity, and iDrive.
The xDrive35d is similarly equipped.
The xDrive50i adds Park Distance Control, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, panoramic sunroof and ten-speaker sound system.
The X5M adds 20-inch alloy wheels, M-specific rear-bias xDrive, automatic power liftgate, Comfort Access, M mirrors, M front apron and side sills, anthracite roof liner, power tilt and telescopic M-specific steering wheel, ten-way heated leather M sport seats, and voice-controlled navigation system.
