Entering 2013 as a redesigned model, the new GL gets a full array of safety kit, including Collision Prevention Assist, 360?? Parking Camera, and Crosswind Assist standard on all models. The GL63 AMG gets an additional Active Curve System for enhanced driving dynamics when cornering.
The GL350 BlueTEC is powered by a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 producing 240 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. GL450 and 550 models are motived by bi-turbo 4.6-litre V8 gasoline engines, producing either 362 hp/406 lb-ft or 429 hp/516 lb-ft. The venerable 5.5-litre bi-turbo AMG V8, with 550 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque, rockets the GL63 AMG from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. All models are equipped with 7-G TRONIC automatic transmissions, with the G63 receiving the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS version of the same unit.
Standard equipment on the Gl350 and 450 includes electric power steering, AIRMATIC air suspension, active bi-zenon headlamps, dual-zone climate control, LED daytime running lights and taillamps, heated steering wheel, leather upholstery and dashboard, power front seats with memory, COMAND, satellite radio, sunroof, privacy glass, power folding 3rd row seating, 20-inch 5-twin spoke wheels, EASY-PACK power tailgate, ATTENTION ASSIST, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, Crosswind Assist, PRE_SAFE, Collision Prevention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, PARKTRONIC, and 360?? parking camera.
GL550 models add AIRMATIC with Adaptive Damping System, AMG styling package, quad-zone climate control, KEYLESS-GO, navigation, six-disc DVD changer, 14-speaker 830W harman/kardon LOGIC7 audio, panoramic sunroof, multicontour front seats with massage, 21-inch AMG 5-spoke wheels, passive blind spot and lane keeping assist.
GL63 AMG models add AMG sport suspension (AIRMATIC), Active Curve System, ECO Start/Stop, designo Nappa Leather upholstery, and red painted brake calipers.
