History/Overview

Audi's largest SUV model is the Q7, which was designed to attract family drivers with its three rows of seating. Launched in 2007, the Q7 was redesigned into a second generation in 2017, and updated in 2020.

Available Trims

Audi offers the Q7 in Komfort, Progressiv and Technik trims. The Komfort and Progressiv trims are equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 45 designation; optional in these trims and standard in the Technik trim is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6. In all cases, all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are included. There is also a sportier SQ7, which is covered in a separate buyer's guide article.

Standard Features

The Komfort trim is equipped with 20-inch wheels, power-folding exterior mirrors, a power liftgate, LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic sunroof, a keyless entry system, leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Audi's infotainment system is based on a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, navigation and, new for 2022, wireless phone charging.

The Q7's standard safety suite includes the pre sense city system, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlight on and off, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert; standard rear side airbags are new for 2022.

The Progressiv trim adds 21-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting (new for 2022), four-way lumbar support for the front seats, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats and auto-dimming exterior mirrors. Safety additions include rear pre-sense and top-view cameras, as well as automatic high beams.

The Technik adds LED matrix headlights, headlight washers, welcome light animations, air suspension, power door closers, rear door sunshades, leather dashboard trim, a B&O stereo system and a head-up display. New for 2022 is a complete suite of driver safety aids: active cruise control, active lane departure warning, intersection assist, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, turn assist and predictive efficiency assist.

Key Options

The Progressiv trim offers a driver assistance package that adds all the advanced safety features that are standard on Technik models. You can also add a dynamic package including sport air suspension and four-wheel steering.

The main option for the Technik is a luxury package including massaging front seats, Valcona/Cricket leather, passenger seat memory and an air quality package.

Fuel Consumption

Audi's fuel consumption estimates are 12.0/9.4 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 2.0L four-cylinder, and 12.8/10.5 L/100 km for the 3.0L V6 models.

Competition

The Audi Q7 competes with the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Acura MDX, Infiniti QX60, Volvo XC90, Lincoln Aviator, Lexus RX-L and Cadillac XT6.
