History/Overview

Since 2017, Alfa Romeo has competed in the compact luxury car segment with the Giulia, a shapely small sedan whose Italian DNA is a rarity at the car’s relatively affordable price point.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

This year, two new trim levels – Estrema and Lusso – join the lineup.

Available Trims

Alfa offers the Giulia in Sprint, Ti, Lusso, Veloce, Estrema, and Quadrifoglio trim levels. Common to the first five trims is a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, while Quadrifoglio gets a 2.9L twin-turbo V6. Both engines are matched with an eight-speed transmission; AWD is standard with the 2.0L engine, but is not available in the Quadrifoglio.

Standard Features

Sprint comes with auto on/off xenon headlights with washers, passive keyless entry, LED daytime running lights/taillights, power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, Brembo brakes, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there’s leather upholstery, an auto-dimming mirror, ambient cabin lighting, dual-zone A/C, wireless phone charging, a digital gauge display, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, navigation, eight-speaker audio, heated 10-way power front seats, and heated rear seats.

Giulia’s standard safety kit comprises front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning.

Ti adds 18-inch wheels, a dual-pane sunroof, grey oak wood trim, and a heated steering wheel.

Lusso gets a 14-speaker sound system and 19-inch wheels.

Veloce gets sport seats but reverts to the eight-speaker stereo, 14-way driver and 12-way passenger seats, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Estrema gains back the upgraded sound system and adds luxury seating with crema cannelloni leather, carbon fibre interior trim, and active suspension.

The speedy Quadrifoglio ditches the Estrema’s sunroof and gets an active-aero front splitter, front carbon fibre chin spoiler, a carbon fibre hood, auto-dimming side mirrors, 14-way front performance seats, and a torque-vectoring differential.

Key Options

An active assist plus package – available in Ti trim and above – adds driver attention alert, intelligent speed/highway/lane keep/traffic jam/active blind spot assists, and an alarm.

Veloce and above can be optioned with a 14-speaker stereo with subwoofer, and leather dash and door trim.

Fuel Economy

Alfa’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.5/7.7 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 2.0L engine and AWD, while Quadrifoglio trim is rated for 13.5/9.3 L/100 km.

Competition

With the Giulia, Alfa competes with the Audi A4, Infiniti Q50, BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac CT4 and CT5, Volvo S60, and Acura TLX.
