Top 10 EVs with the Longest Range in Canada: 2026
One of the most common criticisms of electric vehicles (EVs) is that they don’t have enough range. While this may be true in some cases, most have more than enough range to cover a full commute, and others can drive farther on a single charge than some gas-powered vehicles or even hybrids on a full tank.
To own one of these long-range EVs, you have to pay up, though, as most of the models on this list have starting prices approaching and often exceeding the six-figure mark, which excludes a fair share of potential buyers. There is one exception that unfortunately falls just shy of the top 10, the new 2026 Kia EV4 Wind, which has a range of 552 km and has a starting price under $50,000. There's also a Volvo EX60 P12 arriving next year that's rated to get 640 km of range, but pricing hasn't been announced yet. This is a hopeful sign that more affordable long-range EVs will soon become more common.
10. BMW iX xDrive60 (20-inch wheels): 586 km
The BMW iX may not be the most attractive car on sale, but it certainly has the range to make up for it. Its 113.4-kWh battery allows iX models equipped with 20-inch wheels to achieve a rated range of 586 km, according to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Charging is also decently fast, as the iX can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes and supports a maximum charging rate of 195 kW. The iX has an MSRP of $94,900, a figure that can easily jump past six figures when optioned out.
9. Mercedes-Benz EQS 580+: 597 km
The second last of the German contenders on this list is the Mercedes EQS 580+, with a range of 597 km. It features an 118-kWh battery that can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 31 minutes, with a maximum charge rate of 200 kW. As expected with a large Mercedes sedan, the EQS 580 is pretty quick, producing 536 hp and 633 lb-ft. This performance doesn’t come cheaply, as the EQS 580 starts at $160,400.
8. Tesla Model S: 660 km
As an innovator in the EV market, Tesla has been producing the Model S since 2012. Despite its age, Tesla has continued to modernize the platform, and it remains competitive with 660 km of range from its 100-kWh battery. The Model S is also quick, accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds thanks to its 670 hp. Charging is also a strength of the Model S, as it's capable of accepting up to 250 kW of charge, adding 330 km of range in 15 minutes under ideal conditions. Like most other EVs on the list, the Model S isn’t cheap, with a starting price of $139,990.
7. GMC Sierra EV Max Range: 660 km
The GMC Sierra EV is the first pickup truck to make this list. Elevation and Denali trims equipped with the Max Range package are rated at 660 km, according to NRCan, but GMC claims the truck has up to 769 km of range under ideal driving conditions. The Sierra comes with two different power outputs for the models equipped with the Max Range battery: 725 hp and 775 lb-ft for the AT4 trim, and 760 hp and 785 lb-ft for the top-of-the-range Denali. The Sierra EV is equipped with a massive 205-kWh battery and an 800-volt architecture that lets it charge at 350 kW, adding an estimated 193 km of range in just 10 minutes. The Max Range AT4 is one of the “cheaper” vehicles on the list, with a starting price of $109,399.
6. Rivian R1S Dual: 660 km / Rivian R1T Dual: 676 km
About midway through the list are Rivian’s flagship models, the R1S and R1T. The two models are nearly identical (they’re on the same platform, but one is a truck and the other is an SUV), with the longest range offerings being the dual-motor models equipped with the max-range 140-kWh battery. This gives the R1S a range rating of 660 km and the R1T a slightly improved figure at 676 km. Regular models produce 533 hp and 610 lb-ft, which can be boosted to 665 hp and 829 lb-ft when equipped with the $7,400 performance package. Pricing for R1T starts at $150,990, and the R1S is slightly more expensive at $157,990, with the larger battery adding a hefty $9,000 to the final price tag.
5. 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive: 698 km
BMW makes another appearance with its newest generation of vehicles called the Neue Klasse, with the BMW iX3 being the first model to hit the market. It boasts an impressive estimated range of 698 km from its 112-kWh battery, far exceeding the range of the iX, which it is meant to replace. The new iX3 features an 800-volt battery architecture, capable of charging at up to 400 kW and recharging the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 21 minutes. It's powered by a dual-motor configuration with 463 hp and 476 lb-ft. Prices start at $75,900, making the BMW iX3 the cheapest model on this list. While the iX3 is not yet available, deliveries are expected to begin in the fall of 2026.
4. Lucid Gravity Grand Touring: 724 km
The high-tech Lucid Gravity Grand Touring has 724 km of range. The Gravity comes with a 123-kWh battery that is built on a 926-volt architecture, and can accept an impressive 400 kW charging speed. This allows the Gravity to add 300 km of range in as little as 11 minutes. Power comes from a dual-motor configuration producing 828 hp and 909 lb-ft. Price-wise, the Lucid Gravity is very competitive with other luxury models on this list, with an MSRP of $131,900.
3. Cadillac Escalade IQ: 740 km
GM makes another appearance with the Cadillac Escalade IQ, which shares a platform with the GMC Sierra EV. It features the same 205-kWh battery, giving the Escalade IQ an impressive range of 740 km. Its battery allows for 350-kW charging, allowing the Escalade IQ to add 188 km of driving range in just 10 minutes. Power comes from a dual-motor configuration producing 615 hp and 680 lb-ft, which can be further upgraded in Velocity Max mode, boosting power to 750 hp and 785 lb-ft. The Cadillac is notably more expensive than its GMC counterpart, with an MSRP of $157,399 for the Luxury and Sport models.
2. Chevrolet Silverado Work Truck Max Range: 793 km
GM’s electric platform makes another appearance here, but in a very different type of vehicle, the Chevrolet Silverado EV. The bare-bones Work Truck variant equipped with the Max Range battery is rated at 793 km of range. The Silverado features the same 205-kWh battery as GM other models, capable of recharging at 350 kW, and adding 200 km of range in just 10 minutes. The Silverado EV is notably less powerful than the Escalade, with its dual-motor powertrain producing 510 hp and 580 lb-ft in tow/haul mode. As a work vehicle, the Silverado EV WT is notably less luxurious than the Cadillac and GMC, as is reflected in its more affordable starting price of $82,699.
1. Lucid Air Grand Touring with Aero Wheels: 824 km
The Lucid Air Grand Touring equipped with the 19-inch aero wheels is in the top spot, holding the crown as the EV with the longest range. Rated at an impressive 824 km of range, it features a relatively small 117-kW battery capable of 300-kW charging, which allows the Air Grand Touring to add up to 320 km of range in just 12 minutes. Power comes from a dual-motor configuration producing 819 hp and 885 lb-ft, making the Air the most powerful vehicle on the list. Unsurprisingly, the Lucid Air Grand Touring isn’t cheap, with a starting price of $158,900.
