Not without its warts.
Just sold my 2007 Hyundai Veracruz Limited after 5 years of ownership.

I bought the car used at 89,000 KM with all options including the DVD Player.

I sold the vehicle with 225,000 KM. This is my experience with the vehicle:

Pros:
Car did not have any rust after 10 years, excellent paint job.
Features for the price paid was phenomenal, especially the factory stereo, DVD player, tri climate control, power liftgate chromium side mirrors and rear view mirror.
Ride on the highway was excellent.
No rattles at all after 10 years.

Cons:
The vehicle was mechanically sound and reliable except some of the electronics and well known gasket leak which cost me $220 to fix, but got $800 back from Hyundai.

Rear sensors are temperamental, cost me $1900 to fix.

Wheel bearings tend to go on this car after about 60K

Fuel economy in the city is awful, but it's a large vehicle and is expected.

Ride is jarring when you go over rough pavement.

Exhaust when it goes, can only be replaced by genuine Hyundai parts, and they are expensive as stated by other users.

2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Trim: GL FWD
by Neuberas on 01-12-2017
Still a nice car, current design but terrible on gas
I have purchased in 2014 my 2009 Veracruz GL FWD. I Live in Montreal so the winter here is aggressive enough.
Overall it is an excellent car, I have purchased at a very good price(also because it is not a 4x4), very well maintained, etc.
I was badly surprised with the fuel consumption, it is simply TERRIBLE. I am doing 17 to 20 L/100KM which is insane.
I have already cleaned fuel injectors, filters, etc etc and did not improve.
Another thing is that in winter time, when starting the car for the first time in the day there is a very loud knock on the engine. Some say that it is because of the lack of the oil in the lifters... well, I do not know but this is a concern to me.
Another concern: RUST
Even taking a lot of care I noticed rust forming at the bottom of the front doors and behind the read bumper, so something to watch.

It is important to say that even though it is not in production by Hyundai anymore, the veracruz still has a current design, it is a beautiful truck, amazing the number of courtesy lights and special things it has, internal room is also fabulous to a point that an adult like me (6,3ft) can sit comfortably in the 3rd row seats.
Also, the FWD in the winter is perfectly fine even in rough conditions, the traction control does an excellent job.

2009 Hyundai Veracruz

Maybe I got a lemon
Bought a 2009 Veracruz in 2013. It's a smooth, comfortable ride, with lots of creature comforts. Third-row seating is a must for our family. Pretty roomy inside, but if the third row seats are up, then there's not a lot of space for cargo.

After 2.5 years and 25,000km, it's averaging 13.9 L/100km.

It was good until the summer of 2015 when it basically started to fall apart. I had to replace the ABS unit ($3700), the alternator ($1000), a strut ($1500), and the horns ($450). All prices include installation and taxes. I've never had a vehicle need so much work in such a short period of time, especially a 6 year old vehicle.

Every review I've read on a Veracruz indicated it was a great vehicle, which is why I bought it. However, high repair costs have left me disappointed.

Luxury SUV with 7 seats
Absolutely a wonderful SUV to drive with all the comfort and power you need. Always reliable and plenty of room, just pop up the 3rd row seating! DVD player for the and best sound system! Handles really well in the snow with the AWD.

Allot More Value For Less Money
Bought a New 2012 in August, 2013. MSRP $50,000. Saved $14,000. Was also looking at the 2013 SantaFe XL but there was no comparison for the price. Veracruz hands down. This purchase was a no-brainer. I was absolutely surprised how good a vehicle it is. If you really investigate the components of the Veracruz you will realize that Hyundai put dollars into research & development money. Even though the outside exterior is a little boring, the Interior design and materials are upscale. Even though it is the same vehicle since introduced in 2007 there have been upgrades each year. Fit and finish is great inside and out. Hyundai did miss on some options like Power Mirrors, Reverse Camera etc. As I had the Alpine Navigation I just added the Alpine Reverse Camera and 9 inch Headrest DVD player, monitors. Monitors $220 vs. $1200 for the Flip down Monitor from Hyundai. The 3.8 liter engine has to be one the quietest smoothest engines I have ever owned and I have owned allot of cars. Fairly peppy even though 30 less HP then SantaFe but Torque starts at a lower RPM so really not much difference. The AWD is awesome in the winter. Mostly FWD but engages RWD when needed. There are still a few new 2012's sitting at dealer's. Save your self thousands and find one. You won't be sorry.

What an amazing Luxury Vehicle
I've driven it for just less than 400 KM since buying it! Tempting not to keep it for my personal vehicle! Extremely comfortable to drive. An excellent choice of a SUV! I would definitely consider buying one like this for myself.

garbage
Bought it used in 2011. Have had nothing but trouble with it.
Bought in April, in Sept, had $4000. repair bill on motor due to gasket failure. Was only 10k past warrantee, Hyundai said no assistance because I was second owner. Also had bearings on all four wheels, has issues starting, Also have a neighbour that had an 08 Santa fee, she had so much trouble with it that she got fed up and had to dump it.

Great Value
Very little maintenance needed to be done in 4 years. One engine idling issue done on warranty. Great feel and performance with great looks for much less money than a comparable Lexus. Only downside is the city fuel consumption.
Very happy with the vehicle and would buy it again.

Quiet and Smooth ride
Pros: Ample and smooth acceleration in a smooth and quiet ride. Had the best third row comfort with good seat height without moving to a minivan.

Cons: Factory brake rotors didn't hold up on heavy braking; replaced with premium after market.

Sturdy and comfortable
Since purchasing this car, I have had no real trouble with it. It is powerful enough to easily take me anywhere, particularly during the winter when the snow and ice made it hard for my previous car to make it uphill. The interior is comfortable and I feel very safe behind the wheel.

terrific car from hyundai
comfy, noisy with some bumps , smooth transmission , awd system works in all conditions , well equipped interior some cheap feeling in door panels , quietness , this car have been very reliable but I had made my research on how expensive the parts can be in this car, numb steering but is there for a reason, it wont let you turn fast to avoid rollover in this high ground vehicles (even though this car isn't that high like most suv's or pick up. , excellent sound system, night vision works amazing at night , car feels very heavy, automatic tailgate excellent for shopping , fuel economy on hwy is good, fuel economy on city is bad, I recommend this car and ive been very happy since I bought it.

Terrific car!!!
The fuel economy is a bit weak but other than that its terrific really! The interior is all leather! Its a awd so it helps in slippery condition and it rarely has a problem with the car. it has 7 seats and back seats that can fold if needed for more room.

ALMOST everything we ever wanted...
This was a treat vehicle for us. And it certainly has been a treat. I have enjoyed everything about it, except filling up at the pump. Given its size, its is actually NOT a gas guzzler by any means. Our actual mixed/hwy/in-town mileage has been about 14l/100km, which is only 4l more than my old Honda Civic, but, alas, my old Honda Civic taught me that $40 is a fill, not half a tank... ANYway... great looking, quick responding, confident handing in all weather, especially winter... we love this vehicle. We are sad to see it go and can only hope our new minivan will treat us as well (even if we don't look quite so cool anymore! ;-)

Great Vehicle!
What a great vehicle - my favourite out of all that I have owned!

It seats 7 when needed and has tons of trunk space when the seats are not required. It is great for long-haul trips!

It has all of the bells and whisles that you could want and was a comfortable car to drive.
