Honda Insight 2010Change

I got this car when it had almost 250,000km mileage, and after half a year, it got over 310,000km, nothing wrong with it, pretty reliable, average fuel consumption over 60,000 km is 5.3L/100km on the dash, awesome right?

I've owned this car since new, in 2010. I bought it for the green features, and took the challenge of driving green to heart. Though the fuel economy isn't outstanding, its in light with other compact cars, and I know my carbon footprint is smaller because I own this car.
I have always owned Honda cars, so when they introduced this car, at a much more affordable price point than other hybrid cars I was convinced I would buy one!

I've owned this car for three years (2013-16), and it's been great on the wallet. Very economical, with great mileage, decent space inside. Small, compact.
Downside is that with kids and dogs in the picture, you're not left with a lot of extra room. Designers skimped on some of the smaller details that would be nice (ie. front passenger overhead mirror).
You don't buy it for its pep/acceleration, but for the reliability (never had a defect), economy (5.6L/100km), and overall ease on the bank.

My husband and I each own one of these cars. Neither of us have had major issues with our cars. The price was a lot less than a Prius and although the milage isn't as impressive the cost/benefit was clear. We live in a cold climate where many winter days can start out at -30C (-22F) and we've never had a problem starting them even if they've only been plugged in for an hour beforehand. I have a lot of people ask me how they handle the cold of winter, the answer is always that there are no issues. The trunk space in this hatchback is insane and we've been surprised how much we can load in there, especially if the back seats are down. Some of the things we loaded in the back include a toilet in a box, ikea furniture boxes, a road bike with the front wheel removed, lawn mower, chairs, cross country skis, paddles, two border collies… awesome. I only have two minor negatives. Both of our cars have lost the weather stripping along the tops of the doors, most likely in car washes, but there was a recall on the stripping that fixed the problem. Could use a little more leg room in the back seat since most of my family is over 5'11, but that's not been a huge issue.

After 110,000 km of mixed driving that has included full loads with various gear and a sea kayak on the roof rack, the Insight has performed flawlessly. Nothing has broken. Routine maintenance only and average fuel consumption below 5.1 l/100km. My only other vehicle that competes in the reliability department was a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser which was much more expensive and much more heavy duty. Honda has impressed me with this one.

I've owned my Insight for 4 years now and never had any issues. It still runs well and just sips gas. I've made the drive down from Vancouver BC down to Portland OR and each time gotten down there with a third of a tank left.
It's a great car which holds a surprising amount. Granted the Prius gets slightly better fuel economy, however the Prius costs significantly more. Value-wise, the Insight is definitely more of a bargain, especially at today's gas prices.

Other than regular maintenance, which was done at a Honda dealership, this car has been very reliable, hasn't needed anything under warranty and since the warranty has expired. we owned this car since 56000km and only had one owner before us. The fuel mileage is outstanding and performance is more than expectable.

Looking to purchase a second one sometime this summer.
My only complaint is about the seals as someone mentioned earlier. The weather stripping lets air into the car and creates a whistling sound. So far it's my only complaint and I am at 97,000kms

I absolutely love my car. It's blue and adorable. When it isn't on hybrid mode, it kicks up in gear quickly. I had the same car before but got hit by a reckless driver and made sure I got the very same car again. I love it that much!

The fuel economy doesn't really live up to the "hybrid" label. If you listen to the in dash cues while drving you can can down to 4L/100kms, however that is modifying your driving habbits, not a bad thing in my view but it skews the fuel efficiency numbers. I found that about 80km/h was the sweet spot and could get about 5l/100. Several issues with seals throughout the vehicule, just falling out or getting spayed off through a car wash. Rear windshield wiper is awesome, and visibility is actually a lot better than you would think in the rear view, did not have any issues with that. Cargo space is nice, would be much better if seats folded flat. a trunk mounted bike rack fits fine over the "odd" tail end. Braking and acceleration sometimes feels weird, really letting you know that the electrical system has not been completely ironed out.

I leased this car when it first came out and I love this car. It has saved me so much money is gas as I use my car a lot for work / travel. It even has a sensor for oil changes and my first one lit up at almost 12,0000 and I've only done a few in the almost 3 years I've owned this car.

No problems at all, even in a nice road trip from Toronto to Ottawa and I only had to fill up when I was almost back to Toronto. I will definitely consider another Hybrid in 2013 when my lease is up.

This has been an amazing car with unbelievable features and if we had to do it all over again, we definitely would. There is not another hybrid on the market with the dollar value. Our experience with the Honda dealer was the best we've ever experienced. The ONLY reason we are selling is to downsize to one vehicle and that vehicle has to be a truck.
