Ford Windstar 2002Change

Very reliable, comfortable and safe vehicle. Lots of room for people and cargo. Great for families, errands.

We have owned this car for ten years and have been very pleased with its reliability and comfortable ride for everyday driving and on long trips.

I bought this car second hand from a senior couple who had been the sole owners. It has proven to be very reliable both in town and on highway trips from Ontario to Saskatchewan. Lots of room for 7 passengers plus a great storage area in the back. Exterior has barely any rust and interior is like new.

iI have had this van for 3 years and only had to fix a few minor issues.It has never not started or left me stuck even when the alt light came on and off it still started every day untill I fixed it.I have had all three Caravan,Venture and this Winstar has been easily the best of the three.

We have had the mini van since it was new. We have traveled all across the States and most of Canada. It is decent on gas mileage but we have been so fortunate not to ever have any major repairs needed.

I would buy another on a heart beat

We purchased this 2002 SEL Windstar brand new. we have approx 110,000 miles on the original engine with only the cam synchro replaced once with a used part to boot! not bad, this van has only cost me tires, brakes, one alternator, and wiper blades. the battery is still original, never changed a spark plug, and i have switched to full synthetic oil, which seems to burn a bit more than the regular stuff, no big worry. the check engine lite will come on, but disconnecting the battery seems to take care of the problem for now. power steering gets whinny from time to time, and driver power window doesnt work, but those things are to be expected for a van that is 11 years old. Third row seat is very heavy and does not easily remove from the floor if you need the space. CD player only worked for about 1 year and then ate CD's but we don't use CD's anymore anyways. Headlights could be brighter for those dark, difficult nighttime drives. highbeams are very dull even after replacing the lenses. Traction and drivabilty in winter/snow weather is second to none. Feel completely safe passing on almost any kind of winter roads, and the power is nice too.. Acceleration is a bit slow, but once it kicks into gear, it rockets past with the V-6. Other than the odd headache from time to time, this windstar has basically cost me nothing more than the purchase price.

It is excellent, I didn't have problems when i was riding.

I drive a silver 2002 Ford Windstar Van since 2004, it is completely practical for me, perfect size.
I traveled with my gorgeous Van few times from Toronto to Otawa, Montreal, Niagara Falls a few times too, it was excellent, I have no problems, everything was okay, I am happy with my Van.
Amazing trips I went to others places too, with my whole family, a few of them from Spain to visit us, so we can go different places with them with my gorgeous Van. I love my Van, always good.
My car have a lot of meaning for me, My Van never give me problems, I put new shoes (tires 4) because of snow, and rain so on, needs to be good.
Despite the years that my Van has still giving me good service.
I hope when I have to change for other one be like this Van.
Inside is pretty, silver too, no broke, clean.

the van has 4 recalls in 3 years which is unacceptable to me. Ford keeps telling me the suspension will seperate from the fram.

Owned this vehicle for 7 yrs. and I love it. Great pick up and a smooth ride. Overall it is an excellent vehicle and very peppt for a mini van.

Great family vehicle. We got it after our first child and even though its older and has a lot of miles on it, its very reliable and relatively low maintenance.

Have owned for 8 years, reasonably reliable, 200+K on it, no major issues. Gas mileage is reasonable on the highway, a bit thirsty in the city. Great versatility, cargo area is very large with the seats removed.

bottom rusts out significantly. there are also electrical problems i would say this car doesn't last past 10years.

The first transmission was replaced at 30,000
At which point they put the freestar transmission in.
That went at 201,000

Purchased used in 2005 with 60k. Currently at 165k after 7 years. Never let us down. Will cruise at 140km/h all day and still return 9L/100km. Took 7 of us to Florida and back, never missed a beat. Leather seating is much more comfortable than the cloth, especially on a longer drive. Peppy in the city but mileage suffers due to mass. Still rides like a dream but is beginning to get rusty under the doors. Michelin Harmony tires made the van extra quiet. No show stopper problems at all. Just after extended warranty expired, it did require a replacement of the underhood fuse box; dealer parts and labour was $800 and the part needed 2 days to arrive. Generally parts are relatively inexpensive, other repairs not too costly either. Did previously have a 2001 and a 1995. This van is much better with ABS and traction control, especially in the winter. Van has not been babied but not beaten - it wears well, and puts up with the abuse of 3 teenagers. Sliding doors may not stay properly aligned if repeatedly slammed. Safety in a crash is fantastic, as previously owned older models both more than adequately protected the wife and kids in accidents.

I love my windstars, it is reliable , and a great family car. it has taken us to florida now twice with no problems. We covered alot of Canada and USA with this van with little repairs. ITs 12 years old this year and is still going with little minor repairs. I would recommend this Van to anyone who has a family. I became disabilte 4 years ago. and it has carried my equipement moved our home... I cannot say enough about this van and every family should have one.
