Excellent work truck, or family vehicle - including two big dogs!
Always reliable, and really appreciated its functionality living on a small acreage just outside the city. The 4x4 came in handy when needed!

Best Mid-Size Truck
This truck has been work horse for the past 10 years, plenty of power great fuel economy. I`ve never had a major issue with my Dakota for as long as I`ve owned it. I love this truck!

Gas Guzzler
I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT Quad Cab. It's a 4x2 with the 3.7L v6 engine. First and for most this vehicle eats gas like it's going out of style. I get about 14L/100KM, and that is mostly highway driving. Those are dreadful numbers. Today's HEMI engines get the same or better mileage, producing more power, pushing a MUCH bigger truck. The truck is rated to tow 4500LBS, and when towing a trailer it gets MUCH worse mileage. With my 3000LB trailer (well within the trucks tow capacity), cargo and passengers, i get approximately 23L/100KM. Again, much worse that a HEMI, and since it's only a 70L tank, that means stopping every 250-300 KM for gas...making very long trips!

The truck looks great and has a very beefy quality that you don't see in the other mid size trucks. The SLT is very bare bones in terms of fit and finish. The truck has given me few real problems, however, things are starting to wear and break down and after 8 years the truck has rusted through over the rear passenger side wheel well, and is beginning to rust under the paint in other locations as well. Not what one would expect from an 8 year old car. My wife's 10 year old Corolla still shows no rust.

The engine has been solid, with the exception of the aforementioned mileage, but seriously struggles going up hill under load (ie towing).

Simply put, the truck cannot match the power, performance and, believe it or not, price of the full size RAM trucks. All in all, a nice looking, fairly reliable vehicle that is underpowered (in it's 3.7L spec), glutinous and over priced. It's no wonder Dodge discontinued it.

Fantastic Ride
Car is fantastic to drive and tow. The Crew cab makes it good and roomy when you need to transport people as well. The fuel economy is not very good in the city but on the highway I average about 12 L/100km.

Do not buy one with high KM
Our dodge was very nice looking on the inside and out. All functions worked great. Fuel economy wasnt great for such a small truck and had a small tank. Bought ours with 250 km and by then it was on its last legs. some vehicles can run forever, this one isnt one of them though. Had mechanical problems like crazy just due to the engine being 'tired'.

Awesome work and play vehicle
An all weather vehicle with comfort to go to the ski hills, the bush or the grocery store, Mid size trucks provide all the benefits of full size without the oversized price tag and and road room required for a full size truck. This was my 3rd Dakota, and my 4th is now sitting in the driveway with this one, Great Trucks!

Great for country living
The only real complaint we have is the gas mileage. It does well in drifted snow and on gravel roads. It is much easier to get in and out of than the larger Ram.

A Thirsty, but reliable vehicle
If I didn't have to commute 70km per day, I would keep this truck forever. She's been very reliable and just feels great to drive. The front tie rods are a weak point (that and fuel economy) but they replace without much difficulty and if you replace the stock ties with Moog, they last a lot longer. The dakota is ideal for tradespeople who don't have to drive all over, but I wouldn't recommend it for long-distance communting. Not that it isn't incredibly comfortable to drive.
