Chevrolet Silverado 2500 1999-2015Change

We use it to pull a 31 foot travel trailer and we have needed the 4 wheel drive a few times. It does what ever have asked it to do. Just wish gas mileage was better.

Got this truck as a used oilfield truck with 180,000 kms on it and have used it steady for the last 6 years. Now has well over 500,000 on it and though it has a few minor issues it still starts and runs well and we use it for hauling a loaded trailer regularly.

l wish I never sold my 02 silverado, it was a great truck and never let me down. A solid truck and ample power for towing. Got decent fuel millage on the highway too.

The good: I tow a wakeboard boat with a 10' camper in the truck with airbags in the summer, the truck has no problems on BC mountain passes. The fuel mileage outdoes my 2007.5 duramax in all conditions. Though the power isn't as much :(

The cab is very comfy and the controls are well laid out. I also love the look of these trucks. the body is rust free at 350.000km. everything works great and the 8' box is a dream for yard work and toys!

The Bad: everyone will tell you to be prepared for repair costs.
at 310000km, the injectors and head gaskets needed to be replaced for a small fee of $10,000. Beware of early model duramax, to access any components for repair the motor needs to come out or the cab has to be stripped or removed completely. I have a water leak near/in the turbo and the estimate is 8 hours labour to repair.
This truck has never left me stranded and never quit on me. any repairs I have had to do were at my leisure.
the money saved in fuel is quickly eaten up in repairs and purchase cost.

not a performance machine, then again IT IS A TRUCK!
very comfortable, very dependable 4 wheel drive system.
Im an arborist and these new trucks can handle a full load of wet locust (very dense wood) while towing a 12' dump trailer of chips.

Huge gas tank, 126 liters, Skid plates for those really bad forestry roads.
Mileage at 110-115 km/hr on the highway 850- 950km to a tank
Milage in City aprox 600-700 km

Truck always starts, even one time when it was -40 and I didn't plug it in for 2 days, started the first time.

The truck drives like a Cadillacs , smooth quite ride

I will definitively buy another one some day

Excellent truck to ride in. very comfortable lots of leg room.Adjustable seats are great for long drives.Heated seats are wonderful in winter Handles great on road excellent for towing trailer lots of power on hills

Had this truck since January 2009. Has been a good truck. Always fully maintained.Other than the engine failing in November 2013, which was replaced under GM factory warranty truck has never caused any problems. Great for towing trailer.

Awesome truck. Great for both work and also just everyday use. Never have had any problems

This has been a very dependable truck that can do whatever you need. I now have a company truck supplied and don't need it anymore.

This is my dad's current work truck. Build quality, performance and reliability are very much improved in this truck over his old 1999 Ram 2500. Like the Ram, the styling is really nice but it has a better quality interior to match the nice exterior styling. The 6.0L V8 performs excellently and even when pulling a trailer loaded with equipment and a bed full of yard waste, the truck barely breaks a sweat. Few issues have occured reliability wise other then a transmission coolant leak at around 120,000km which was fixed under warranty and a sagging driver's side door that had to be adjusted due to my dad using it to help boost himself into the tall cab of the truck. Fuel economy, naturally, is dismal. Overall a very good truck that's more than up to most any task you could throw at it.

Bought the truck 2nd hand from a dealer as a lease return. Had 35,000 km when I bought it in 2011. Just sold it in May 2013 with 68,000 km on it , took a $9,500 drop to sell it but at least the bleeding has finally stopped from my wallet.
Supper hard on fuel got maybe 11 mpg on a good day.
Had all drivers door trim replaced,rear end rebuilt,tranny cooler lines replaced ,rear bumper rusted so had to be replaced, tow/haul mode failed, and last but not least the oil cooler lines are now leaking.......All were repaired under warranty except the oil lines and the tow/haul failed 1000 km past warranty but they did come through and fix it under warranty.
All in all a really crappy experience, would not recommend to anyone

Once you have gone Diesel, you will never go back.
Towing, work truck, family transport, long distance travel.
A great all around vehicle for the working man or woman.

Great work truck. Used to haul wood and sap in the maple sugar woods. Also used to haul box style camper. Over 80000 km's on it and no problems.

pulled bigger truck out of ditch in 30 seconds started right up after sitting for year in driveway. great cargo carrier ideal as work or crew truck

This truck has been a reliable truck since day one. I recently got a new job where a company truck is provides and there was no need to keep this one. The person who buys this will not be disappointed.

Our whole family loves this truck. Especially how comfortable it is, and how nice it drives. Also love the pop down DVD player for our two kids. Definately a life saver on long trips. Our oldest doesnt even get carsick anymore! Powerful enough to pull our fifth wheel as well. Great for work or play.

I have 07 duramax its an awesome truck with lots of power and a very comfortable ride. I put a 6 inch suspension lift in it with a 4 inch leveling kit and 35 inch tires its a great truck looking very sharpe with the black on red. motor is very tough as well as the tranny. i was never scared to get it dirty and go mudding wit it it could definately take all the abuse i give to it . Very good all round truck

powerful engine, comfortable seats makes this truck the total workhorse that the working man needs for any application from off-roading to towing heavy equipment, great for hauling anything from children to dirt, snowmobiles and logs or your mother-in-law...jk. the best truck that i have ever owned but after 200,000 kilometres the truck starts breaking down slowly and the labour is expensive. its best to get the stuff fixed before the warranty runs out. but all in all the best ride that a person could get and can use it for practically any purpose

Smooth ride on gravel road. very comfortable for long distance driving. No problem hauling our 24 ft 5th wheeler. Excellent for full loads of wood, furniture etc. We've had quite a few chevy vehicles, and think they are very reliable as well as a nice design to them too

I love driving this truck. So powerful and comfortable... Hauls things very nicely. Only problem I have had is the windows keep jamming and will not roll up and down

I bought this extended cab to tow a fifth wheel. The only thing it can't pass is a gas station. It has been highly reliable. I would highly recommend this model to anyone looking to tow, without the cost and the fuss of a diesel. Did I mention the big block 8.1 liter engine?

We had a diesel 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. We pulled a 25-26' (had to sell, I forget) fifth wheel with a 16' alumicraft fishing boat behind. It pulled both like they weren't even there. There are two complaints I had about this truck. The passenger seat (mine) needed a blanket on it to even out the seat. It was too high on the sides. The second complaint was that it was a diesel. I am allergic to diesel. Well, the 2008 economy hit the world. We had to make a choice. Sell the truck to keep our head above water, or drown. Our financial life depended on selling my husbands' truck. He told everyone that this will be the last truck he will ever own...as it turned out, life got in the way of his dream. It really hurt him to have to sell his beloved truck! He is waiting for the day he can buy another dream truck. Until then we will make do with what we have. That is my story of my husband's truck.
