Toyota redesigned the Corolla hatchback in 2019, replacing the Corolla iM with one of the first Toyota economy cars that can legitimately be called fun to drive.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
Toyota has upgraded the Corolla hatchback's infotainment system for 2020, adding Android Auto connectivity to the already-available Apple CarPlay system.
There are also new colour configurations, including a two-tone option with a black roof.
Available Trims
Toyota offers the Corolla hatchback in S, SE, SE upgrade, and XSE trims. All three use a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine, which comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission and options to a continuously variable (CVT) automatic.
Standard Features
Corolla S hatchback comes with passive keyless entry, automatic high beams, lane departure alert, radar cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, a six-speaker stereo with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a front wiper de-icer, tilt-and-telescopic steering, air conditioning with automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, a six-way manual driver's seat, LED headlights and taillights, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, and heated side mirrors.
SE trim adds heated front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, blind spot monitoring, 16-inch wheels, and two-way driver's seat lumbar.
SE Upgrade brings satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, 18-inch wheels, and a heated steering wheel.
Finally, XSE gains dual-zone climate control, navigation, a digital gauge cluster display, an eight-way power driver's seat, fabric and leather seat upholstery, fog lights, and adaptive headlights.
Fuel Economy
Toyota's fuel consumption estimates for the Corolla hatchback are 8.4/6.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with the manual transmission, and 7.5/5.8 when equipped with the optional automatic CVT.
Competition
Toyota's competitors for the Corolla hatchback are the Honda Civic, the Hyundai Elantra GT, Volkswagen's Golf, the Kia Forte, the Mazda3 Sport, and Subaru's Impreza.
