History/Overview

Lincoln completely redesigned its flagship model in 2018. This full-size luxury SUV is closely related to the Ford Expedition and also shares DNA with the Ford F-150 pickup truck. For 2020, the Navigator gains certain standard features. Among these is the ability to use a smartphone as a vehicle key. All Navigator models now include power running boards, heated/ventilated front seats, and wireless charging for cell phones.

Available Versions

The Navigator is offered in a single trim, leaving the choice between regular or extended wheelbase configurations. Power comes from a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 paired with a 10-speed transmission and 4-wheel drive.

Standard features include adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels and tires, bright roof rails, power running boards, full LED lighting, automatic on/off headlights, power-folding/heated/auto-dimming side mirrors, passive keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, hill descent control, hands-free power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers with defroster, and chrome grille surround.

Inside, there are illuminated seat belt buckles, tri-zone automatic climate control, genuine wood trim, heated/leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12-inch digital gauge cluster, ambient lighting, reading lamps, frameless/auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals and steering column, active noise control, head-up display, wireless charging, power-folding second and third-row seats, 24-way adjustable heated/ventilated front seats, 10.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a 14-speaker stereo system with satellite radio.

Safety features include rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring with trailer coverage, cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, active park assist, lane-keeping assist, forward collision detection with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, and automatic high beams.

Key Options

The Navigator's options list includes 4-wheel drive with low-range gearing, trailer backup assist, all-weather floor mats, single-disc CD player, heated second-row seats, and 30-way adjustable front seats. Lincoln also offers a number of different wheel designs.

Fuel Economy

Lincoln's estimated fuel consumption for the Navigator is 15.0/11.5 L/100 km (city/highway).

Competition

Among the Americans, there's the Cadillac Escalade and the GMC Yukon Denali. Japan makes the Lexus LX and Infiniti QX80. From Europe come the BMW X7, Audi Q7, and Mercedes-Benz GLS from Germany, and Britain sends the Land Rover Range Rover.
