History/Overview

The QX80 is Infiniti's flagship model, a full-size, truck-based luxury SUV. The QX80 name dates back to 2014; before that, this big, posh utility was called the QX56. Infiniti last updated the QX80 in 2018.

What's New / Key Changes from Last Year

For 2020, the QX80 gets some new features. The safety suite now includes a standard rear door alert, lane departure warning, backup collision intervention, and blind spot monitoring.

Inside, there's a new dual-screen infotainment system, and a 7.0-inch gauge cluster display.

Available Trims

Infiniti offers the QX80 in Luxe, Proactive, and Limited trims. All are seven-seaters, but Proactive can be optioned with an eight-passenger interior.

All trims use a 5.6L V8 engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive with low-range gearing.

Standard Features

Luxe trim comes with exterior features like 20-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights with washers, LED fog lights, daytime running lights, a power tailgate, power-folding/heated/auto-dimming side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, passive keyless entry, and a Class IV tow hitch.

Inside, there's a sunroof, leather upholstery, charcoal burl trim, 10-way and 8-way power driver and front passenger seats, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a leather-trimmed/heated steering wheel, heated second-row bucket seats, power-folding third-row seats, three-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable steering column, 8.0- and 7.0-inch upper and lower infotainment displays, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with integrated garage door opener, a 17-speaker stereo with CD/DVD player, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Standard safety kit includes automatic high beams, surround view exterior cameras, tire pressure monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic braking, backup collision intervention, and blind spot warning.

Proactive trim adds 22-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, climate control with air purification, a smart rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, a hydraulic body motion control system, blind spot intervention, lane departure prevention, distance control assist, and adaptive headlights. An eight-seat option replaces second-row bucket seats with an unheated three-place bench with a power-folding function.

Finally, Limited trim brings stainless steel running boards with welcome lighting, satin chrome exterior trim, lighted kick plates, Alcantara upholstery, matte silver and ash wood interior trim, a black headliner, and nicer leather for the steering wheel and shifter.

Fuel Economy

Infiniti's fuel consumption estimates for the QX80 are 17.4/12.2 L/100 km (city/highway).

Competition

The QX80 plays in the same upscale sandbox as the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln's Navigator, the Land Rover Range Rover, BMW's X7, the Audi Q7, and Volvo's XC90 T8.
