2014 Jaguar XK

NEW FOR 2014:

Jaguar’s big cat sees a new limited-edition model for 2014 called the XKR-S GT. When we say limited, we really do mean limited – only five will be brought into Canada of the total 30 units earmarked for North America. Each comes exclusively in white paint with yellow stripes and carries a $40,000 premium over the standard XKR-S.

So what exactly do you get for your $40K? While the GT doesn’t offer more power, it has a completely reworked suspension setup including a wider front track, height-adjustable uprated dampers, a quicker steering rack, and new bushings. But the real piece de résistance is Jaguar’s first carbon ceramic braking system, which uses 15.7-inch rotors and six-piston front calipers. Forged 20-inch wheels further pare back unsprung weight. The exterior comes track-day ready with a giant downforce-generating fixed wing, carbon fibre aero kit, lot of hood vents, plus a flat aluminum undertray.

Elsewhere, the XK series carries on with a few minor changes. Last year’s limited-edition Portfolio Pack returns as an optional extra on XK and XKR models. It includes chrome mirror caps and mesh grille, a leather headliner, 20-inch wheels, and unique Navy or Truffle interior colour schemes. XKR buyers now get last year's optional aero body kit as standard. A new XKR Performance Pack adds performance seats with diamond-stitched suedecloth upholstery, an active exhaust system, suedecloth-upholstered steering wheel, and red brake calipers for a bit of added flash. XK, XKR, and XKR-S continue to be offered in both Coupe and Convertible body styles.

All XKs are powered by a 5.0-litre V8; XKs are naturally aspirated with XKR, XKR-S, and XKR-S GTs featuring a supercharger. The XK makes 385 hp, the XKR 510 hp, and the XKR-S 550 hp. All models use a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and drive the rear wheels.

Features on the XK Coupe include 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control with automatic speed limiter, adaptive dampers, electric parking brake, LED taillamps, rear fog lamps, power-folding auto-dimming rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals and puddle lamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic bi-xenon headlamps with cornering lights, washers and automatic leveling, front and rear parking assist, rear spoiler, auto-dimming rearview mirror, auto up/down windows, trip computer with message centre, proximity key with push-button start, garage door opener, 16-way power driver and passenger heated and cooled soft-grain leather sport seats, three-position driver and passenger memory, heated leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, front and rear premium carpet mats, suedecloth headliner, six-disc CD/MP3 stereo with USB and auxiliary input, satellite radio, Bowers & Wilkins 525-watt sound system, Bluetooth, and navigation system.

The XKR Coupe adds JaguarDrive Control with winter and dynamic modes, Aero body kit, active differential control, active front lighting, quad exhaust tailpipes, and Performance seat with contrasting stitching.
