Certain vehicles fail to conform with CMVSS 118 - Power-operated Roof Panels. The subject vehicles may exhibit a condition where the sunroof can be closed after the ignition is turned off and the doors are opened. This can only occur if the engine is turned off and a front door opened, all within 60-seconds of starting the vehicle. Once 60-seconds elapses from starting of the engine, this condition will no longer exist. For example, if the engine is started and run for 40 seconds, and the operator turns it off and exits the vehicle, the condition will only exist for the remaining 20 seconds. Correction: No remedial action is required due to the unlikely-ness of such an occurrence.

On certain vehicles, the drive axle differential seal may leak (note that all-wheel drive vehicles have two seals). Reduced lubrication may cause the differential to become noisier. Continued use may cause damage to bearings and other differential components. Three conditions could occur: 1). When the vehicle is stopped and shifted to reverse, the differential may jam and prevent vehicle movement. 2). the damage can cause drag that will feel like the parking brake is applied; or 3) the differential could jam and lock the drive wheels while the vehicle is underway. Should the latter occur, it could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash, causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the drive axle differential seal(s).

On certain vehicles, fuel starvation may cause the engine to stall when fuel level is less than ¼ tank. This condition occurs without the illumination of the Fuel Level Low indicator light or the warning chime. If the engine stops running, the operator may not be able to restart the vehicle. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Electronic Control Module (ECM) with new software that will compensate for fuel that has been transferred to the left side of the "saddle" design fuel tank.

Certain all wheel drive vehicles equipped with a 3.6L engine did not have the torque monitoring functions of the electronic throttle control (ETC) enabled during vehicle assembly. These functions can limit engine speed and torque if unusual engine control module (ECM) hardware or software failures occur. Without these functions enabled, a persistent ECM failure could result in a throttle opening greater than commanded by the driver which could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the ECM.
