Cadillac EVs

Cadillac is Canada's top-selling luxury EV brand. In 2025, it held 32.1% of the luxury EV market, with the Optiq and Lyriq ranked first and second in luxury EV registrations, and that share rose above 50% in the first half of 2026. Its four EVs use GM's dedicated electric platform. The Lyriq, Vistiq and Escalade IQ are built in the US, at Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Factory Zero in Detroit; the Optiq is built in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

The federal EV Affordability Program pays up to CA$5,000 on an eligible EV, but imported vehicles must have a final transaction value of CA$50,000 or less. The least expensive Cadillac EV, the Optiq, starts at CA$57,399, and no Cadillac is on Transport Canada's eligible list.

Luxury tax, tariffs and rebates

Luxury tax. Canada's federal luxury tax applies to new vehicles priced over CA$100,000. It is the lesser of 10% of the full price or 20% of the amount over CA$100,000, with GST or HST charged on top. At base price it applies to every Escalade and Escalade ESV, the CT5-V Blackwing and upper Vistiq trims, and can apply to the Escalade IQ depending on its gross vehicle weight rating. A Lyriq-V with options can also cross the threshold.

Tariffs. Every current Cadillac except the Mexican-built Optiq is built in the US and is affected by Canada's counter-tariffs on US-built vehicles.

Cadillac warranty and ownership

CoverageWhat to expect
Basic warranty4 years or 80,000 km
Powertrain warranty (gas models)6 years or 110,000 km

Cadillac's four-year basic warranty matches German luxury brands, and its six-year gas powertrain coverage is longer than most. Confirm EV battery and roadside terms with your dealer.

Buying a used Cadillac in Canada

Check the 6.2L V8

In 2025, GM recalled 2021 to 2024 Escalade and Escalade ESV models, along with GM trucks, for possible 6.2L V8 engine failure, covering just under 50,000 vehicles in Canada across GM brands. US regulators opened a new investigation in August 2026. Confirm the recall work on any used Escalade.

Consider a used EV

Used Lyriqs can sell well below their original prices. Check the battery's state of health and the remaining battery warranty.

Look at discontinued models

The XT4 and XT6 are no longer sold new but are available used, and Cadillac dealers continue to service them.
