Volkswagen GLI 2004-2013Change

Best car that I have ever owned, and probably will ever own. Really sorry to see it go but the family is growing and I need to upsize to a larger vehicle. This car is a head-turner and is super-fun to drive. If you know VW's you will know how hard this car is to find.

Car drives beautifully, lots of power and great handling. Even with the turbo I was getting great fuel economy about 500 KM on a full tank. Really enjoyed the having this car.

The GLI is a "night and day" difference from the regular Jetta. The sport suspension and higher powered engine provides a very tight feel and gives it some good torque. The GLI has many nice changes to the exterior compared to the normal Jetta, but I think it could still be a bit better. While the styling is nice, I wouldn't say it is "eye catching". On the other hand, the interior is gorgeous with a fantastic flat bottom steering wheel, attractive instrument clusters, and nice red-piping stitching throughout. The only knock is the hard door panels that should have been made "soft-touch" like the dashboard. From a driving perspective, this car is awesome...fun to drive and great handling. Styling could be slightly improved, but I don't think it is ugly...just a bit bland in areas. Overall, if you want a car that has a great sporty feel, is fun to drive, and doesn't break the bank to drive or buy then this is the car for you!

This is a very fun and comfortable car to drive. It has a fantastic road feel, and silky smooth engine and power transfer!

This is a drivers car, through and through. Handling and responsiveness from the 2.8L VR6 engine is legendary among enthusiasts. The VR6 engine is sadly no longer in production and so this car os becoming something of a collectible. If you want to drive and not be driven, this is the car for you. It will put a smile on your face everytime you drive it. Nothing else comes close at this price. Highly recommended.

Vibrant tornado red car combining excellent fuel economy with sport performance and handling. Beautiful looking car inside and out with VW's high build quality and reliability. Its been a pleasure driving this car and will be sorry to see it go.

I've owned this vehicle for 4 years and 70,000km and have yet to need a major repair or have the "car down". I've pretty much only have had to put maintenance into the vehicle and have been treated to nothing but more and more fun.

performance is above average with fantastic low end torque that pulls you back in your seat. The seats are comfortable and don't give you fatigue over a long drive. I do the drive from Edmonton to Kelowna yearly and with this car have never had to stop for anything longer than a pee break or refuel. My previous cars required me to get out and take a few stretches every few hours.

Fuel economy is fantastic, I average 600km per 55L fill city driving and have gotten as high as 900 on the highway.

This was my first car and i dont think ill ever have another one like this its great, the car doesnt seem that special but once you get in it drives beautifully.

I have owned this car for a little over a year and it's been a pretty good used car purchase. I drove it heavily (200km+ per day) for work and it held up well, and of course was the most fun part of my workday!

As with most VWs, I have had some electrical problems with it (nothing super critical - just fuses, ignition switch, wiring - pretty cheap fixes, under $500 total). Other than that, it's been great.

Fun, sporty car, love the 6 speed transmission and turbo option. It looks good, SUPER comfortable Recaro limited edition seats, and great for highway driving. Gas mileage is great on highway, less than great in the city. I constantly get comments from friends about how nice my car is once they get inside, and how they want the seats if I ever sell it.

Overall, my favourite car that I've owned. Plan to keep it for a few more years until I can afford my dream Porsche.

Great price and performance for compact size vehicle. IT has the same 2.0 turbo engine as GTI, it is a very fun to drive car. I am loving every moment driving the vehicle.

Great performance and driveability. Interior is stylish and extremely comfortable. Highly recommend the purchase of this car if you can find them for sale, very hard to find used.

The GLI is a GTI with a trunk that has more volume than the GTI, although, the GTI's open hatch can swallow larger objects. The rest of the GTI is a subtle blend, a sedan with the same high performance acceleration and handling as the GTI. The low-profile tires hate rough roads, but they stick like glue to pavement, yiled impressive cornering. The electronic stability control, powerful brakes, and xenon headlights, offer tremendous active safety. This car easily flies along the highway with lightning speed and inspiring confidence. The remarkable DSG transmission with paddle shifters makes for rapid shifting without taking your hands off the wheel. This is truly a driver's car

The car is fast when you want it to be, and great on gas when you keep your foot out of it. Although we had a very, very rare engine problem which meant the engine was replaced, the car is very reliable. The engine swap was done under warranty. The car styling looks great both in and out. People still think it is a brand new car. There is lots of room inside and in the trunk with some great convenience options. Get the GLI with the 2.0TSI engine and both your foot and wallet will be happy. This is a much better option than those boring fuel sippers.

after five years i have found my car both dependable and easy to maintain. styling is a bit tame though.

The handling is awesome. The ride is so smooth. Too smooth that you won’t even feel you’re driving above the speed limit, if you’re not paying close attention to the odometer. Best part? You can set a maximum speed limit, so that when you reach that limit, it lets you know.

As a short person, I always need to adjust everything to make sure that I can see in front, on the side and the back. Some cars can be adjusted, but it always give me the “that’s it? I need more” feeling. After having adjusted what I needed, everything fits; like the car was made for me. I have no complaints with this car whatsoever. Well, maybe there's that fuel economy thing, but really other than that, this car is absolutely perfect.
