Dodge Dakota 1999Change

The Dakota does everything that the so-called full size 1/2 ton pickup trucks do, but in a much less bulky form, and you don't need a ladder to get into it! I've had my 1999 Dakota for 5 years. it was an impulse buy, due to past experience and losing my company vehicle.I bought it with 278,000 km on it and now it has over 330000. I think it will make it past 500,000 km easily. Mechanically the truck is perfect. The body not so good. I am retired, and I use it off road quite a lot to gather in firewood for the wood burning stove that heats my house in winter and I load it heavily each trip, right up to the cab roof line. Never even a hic-up. Over rough terrain and deep snow, it handles great. On the road it is a little stiff in the suspension, but hey with 4x4 you expect that! The truck has plenty of power and the 5.2 engine /318 cu in is bullet proof. Why they changed it to the 4.7 in 2000 is a puzzle. My son has a 2000 and it does not outperform my truck, though it runs well it get poorer gas economy.This is my second Dakota (first one was a 1993) and if they still made them in this body style, I would be buying a new one. Whenever I'm finished with this one, which may be awhile!

its a nice truck and all but i will probley never by another dodge dakota ever again.... just because its a pig on gas and for a single mom of 2 thats going to school full time, i cant afford it!

Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 Great vehicle for it's age. Tons of power. Nice design. Good and always dependable. Love it's sporty style and the fact that it is 4x4 is needed during the winter where we live.

This is an awesome pickup. You hardly feel the road when driving over bumps which saves my back a lot of wear and tear. The handling is excellent and you would have to drive thru a hurricane to feel the wind pushing the vehicle around the road. I feel confident driving this in all types of weather and road conditions. The V-8 engine has plenty of oomph when you walk on the gas pedal and want to pass on the highway. Also the gas mileage is quite acceptable for a sporty little truck like this. All in all money well spent.

this truck is wonderful. I'm selling because i have a 1 ton and baja beetle to play with. i have driven this truck to the coast for work, played on the Fraser river on the way home and straight back onto the coq home to kelowna without any trouble. its sad to see it go but time to move on

Reasonably comfortable ride with substandard performance from the V6. Fuel economy is reasonable, however a smaller tank holds it back. Nice exterior styling, but the paint is of poor quality and can peel.

This Truck has all the Power you will need for Hauling and Towing. Lots of leg room and Head room for a 6'3 person. Lots of storage compartments and room for 2 in the Club Cab Area. The MPG is a little low but this seems to be the only drawback.

The Dodge Dakota Sport is a great truck (especially city driving) We have enjoyed driving it. Very clean, great family truck.
