What's new and what's leaving at Lexus Canada

• New ES: the eighth-generation ES arrived in 2026 as an all-wheel-drive hybrid and two EVs, and the 2027 model went on sale in September 2026.
• NX goes fully electrified: the gas NX 350 ends with the 2026 model; the 2027 NX is offered only as a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid with more battery capacity. Canadian pricing is still to come.
• RZ adds front-wheel drive: the 2026 RZ 350e is the first front-wheel-drive RZ in Canada and the least expensive, with up to 486 km of range.
• Coming: the TZ, a three-row electric SUV with up to 480 km of range, has been revealed for 2027.
• Leaving: the LC ended production in 2026 after its final model year, the RC was discontinued after 2025, and the IS is now offered only as the IS 350 AWD.

Lexus hybrids, plug-ins and EVs

Lexus has sold hybrids longer than any other luxury brand, and in 2025, 19,266 of its Canadian sales were electrified.

• Hybrids: the UX 300h, NX 350h, RX 350h and RX 500h, ES 350h, TX 500h and LX 700h.
• Plug-in hybrids: the NX 450h+ and RX 450h+, each with 304 hp and about 58 to 60 km of electric range. Sales of both set records in the third quarter of 2026.
• Electric: the RZ SUV and the ES 350e and ES 500e sedans. The RZ uses a Tesla-style NACS charging port.

Lexus models built in Canada

The RX and NX are built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge, Ontario, which makes Lexus one of the few luxury brands that builds vehicles in Canada. Most other Lexus models come from Japan. The TX is built in Princeton, Indiana, and is the only US-built Lexus, which makes it subject to Canada's counter-tariffs on US-built vehicles.

Luxury tax and rebates

Luxury tax. Canada's federal luxury tax applies to new vehicles priced over CA$100,000. It is the lesser of 10% of the full price or 20% of the amount over CA$100,000, with GST or HST charged on top. It applies to every LX and LC and to the GX Luxury, Overtrail+ and Executive, and can apply to lower GX trims once options are added.

The federal EV Affordability Program pays up to CA$5,000 on an eligible EV and CA$2,500 on a plug-in hybrid in 2026, but imported vehicles must have a final transaction value of CA$50,000 or less. Every Lexus EV and plug-in hybrid is built in Japan and starts above that cap, from CA$59,990 for the RZ 350e and NX 450h+, so no current Lexus qualifies.

Lexus warranty and ownership costs

Lexus's six-year powertrain coverage and 10-year hybrid battery coverage are among the longest in the luxury segment.

Buying a used Lexus in Canada

Consider Lexus Certified Pre-Owned

Certified vehicles get a 175-point inspection, added warranty coverage, a CARFAX Canada report and a 10-day or 1,500 km exchange window.

Check the hybrid battery coverage

The 10-year, 240,000 km hybrid battery warranty transfers with the vehicle, so most used Lexus hybrids still have years of battery coverage left. Confirm the original in-service date.

Run the VIN for recalls

Recent Canadian recalls include about 1,714 2022 to 2024 LX 600s and about 507 2016 to 2022 RC F, GS F and IS 500 models. Check any used Lexus against Transport Canada's recall database and confirm the work was done.

Expect to pay for resale value

Lexus models have a reputation for holding their value, so used prices are often higher than for comparable German luxury cars. The trade-off is typically lower running costs.
